His gaze was sharp enough to pierce through her.
The air inside the car felt suffocating.. tight, cold, and heavy. Kelsey could almost feel the chill sinking into her bones.
She glared at the man before her, her tone cold, her eyes completely stripped of the warmth they once held. "I said, can you not be like.. um!"
Before she could finish, Rhett's hand moved. He pressed down against the corner of her lips, silencing her instantly.
He leaned in close, his tall figure casting a shadow over her.
When he realized that she was about to say something he really didn't want to hear, an impulse surged within him, to silence her completely.
But in the end, he only pressed down on her lips lightly. His voice dropped to a dark warning, "Kelsey, don't provoke me."
Their eyes locked.
Kelsey's breath caught, her gaze trembling slightly.
Her hands clenched into fists, her whole body tense, ready to defend herself if she had to.
