Cassian was on the phone, urging me to go on and that he was right behind me. I took slow but steady movements towards the door.


Immediately, I got to the entrance, and a crippling feeling of anxiety and nervousness overwhelmed me.


The woman, who appeared to be in her late fifties, didn't have a welcoming posture when she laid eyes on me. Instead, she tightened her gaze, studying me judgmentally before turning around and stepping inside.


I turned around in search of Mr Cassian because I wouldn't love to get into a room filled with unknown faces without the familiar face behind.


Cassian paused at the foot of the steps, the slightest flicker of hesitation crossing his face. Then his shoulders straightened, his expression hardening back into the familiar mask of coldness.


"Remember," he said quietly, glancing toward me, "speak only when spoken to."
