Celine Holmes was nine the day her world ended. One moment, she was laughing in the back seat of her father’s car, excited for her birthday trip. 
The next time, she woke up in a hospital bed, broken, with a bandage on her head and legs, and alone. Her parents vanished from the face of the earth.
She knew instantly that life would never remain the same again.
After her recovery, she was sent to a foster home, where a wealthy couple, Mr and Mrs Klein, took her in. 
They called her a blessing as they welcomed her with open arms and promised her a new beginning. For a while, she believed them. She thought maybe this time, she could belong again.
But good things never lasted long in Celine’s life. Mr Klein lost his job, and his kindness turned into cruelty. 
He drank too much, gambled too often, and blamed her for every misfortune that had befallen him and his family.
The family that once smiled at her began to turn. 
His sons, now nineteen, looked at her differently, not with brotherly affection, but with a lustful gaze. 
When she resisted them, their cruelty deepened. And whenever Mr Klein lost to a gamble, he took it out on Celine.
Then one day, everything changed again. Mr Klein’s gambling caught up to him. 
The man he owed was no ordinary creditor; he was Cassian Damien, a feared mafia boss with a reputation for collecting debts in blood. 
When Cassian came for his payment, Mr Klein offered the only thing he had left: Celine.

"This is my house, Cassian. She can share a room with you when you go back to your own home. Besides that, I would make sure to keep an eye on her," Mrs Damien insisted.


Deep inside me, I didn't want to share a room with Cassian either; the nights I had spent with him weren't pleasant, although he hardly even passed the night in the bedroom at all.


They were silent for a while, a tense moment between mother and son. After a while, Mr Cassian, noticing his mother wasn't going to let him have his way, walked out on her, heading to probably his room upstairs.


Mrs Damien smiled as she watched him climb the stairs angrily. She then turns to me, masking the smile she had earlier on with a glare.


"What are you standing here for? Head to your quarters immediately. You would be eating there and doing everything there until you are summoned. I don't want to see your filthy self around my living space again until the day you leave this place.
