Appa lands a bit outside of Omashu in a bunch of trees to hide himself. Katara and Norrak wake up, rubbing their eyes as they let out a tired yawn from their late-night activities last night.
After they had set sail towards Omashu from Kyoshi Island, the two had gone at it like it was never-ending. They did everything, and Norrak made sure to make Katara faint at the end of it.
Swoosh!
Katara screamed as her body froze. A massive amount of cold water condensed around her and Norrak, washing away the grime and smell.
Katara glared at Norrak as her mouth closed so that the dirty water did not go inside her mouth. Norrak chuckles, and then the water leaves them, drying their clothes.
"I should hit you for this! You almost made me faint again, but from being a dumbass this time around!" Katara complained, crossing her arms as she glared at Norrak.
"Sorry, sorry. I couldn't help it since you looked so sleepy. What if we get into a fight later and you fall asleep in the middle?" Norrak said, rubbing the back of his head.
"And how would I exactly fall asleep in the middle of a fight, if you would explain to me, please?!" Katara asked with confusion, and Norrak sighed before looking away.
"Tch! Whatever, let's go before we have to stay here. We need an earthbending teacher to help me master earthbending," Katara said as she moved away, and Norrak nodded.
"Appa, make sure to create a loud sound if you are in trouble. In fact, you can fly into the city directly," Norrak said as he created a massive dome around Appa, but only high enough to cover his body from sight.
He also left a lot of space for Appa, if he needed to move around and eat. There was plenty of vegetation around for him from where they currently were.
Swoosh!
Katara lifted off from the ground, and she flew towards the distant city walls. Norrak followed her, flying after and catching up. Though she seemed less angry now.
"So... Sorry?... How about we go and explore the city before looking for anything else?" Norrak said with a raised eyebrow, and Katara finally reacted as she side-eyed him.
"... Fine," Katara mumbled, and Norrak sighed in relief. The two continued flying for a few seconds, and after reaching the city walls, out of the guard's eyes, they landed on the floor.
Katara and Norrak looked at each other, and Norrak smiled as he led her towards the city gates. There was a pair of guards there, usually... However, only two normal adult males were present.
"Hmm? Excuse me, can we enter the city?" Norrak asked as he stepped forward. The two males talking to each other stopped, and when they saw Norrak and Katara, a look of recognition passed through their eyes.
"Welcome, strangers! Before we let you two in, please. Take this, maybe if you feel like it, you two could go and enjoy," The guard gave Norrak a piece of paper.
Katara looked at the paper in confusion until she read the words on it. It was an invitation to a circus show happening at 8 in the evening, and you could bring one person for free.
"Well, I'd say we should explore the city first, and then we could take a break and go to this circus show," Norrak said with a shrug. Katara nodded with a smile, her eyes hiding excitement.
"Sure, thanks for the invitation. We will make sure to go," Norraks aid with a smile, and the two styepped aside as the door to the city gate opened. Katara and Norrak stepped through, waving as they walked away.
The two guards watched as the two walked inside, and then their welcoming faces vanished, replaced by a neutral expression. They exchanged glances and went back to guarding the gate.
"Come and buy my cabbages! It's the best prize, and no need for tax!"
"Cabbages? Who would even sell cabbages here? Well, no one looks to be trying to buy," Norrak muttered with a knowing look as he passed the cabbage stand.
"What do you mean? Is the guy hiding something?" Katara asked with a raised eyebrow, looking back at the cabbage guy trying to sell cabbage, only to fail, as no one spared a glance.
"Yeah, he is most likely a Fire Nation spy if I am being honest. Though it's not our business," Norrak said with a relaxed look, and Katara shrugged as the two continued looking around.
A few hours go by as Norrak and Katara looked around the city for anything fun to do or anything new they had never eaten before to eat. They succeeded at both.
"Hmm, I don't think I am going to eat that. My perfectly white teeth would be ruined," Norrak said with crossed arms while standing in front of a stand selling hard candy.
Katara looked at him with round eyes, with a few of the candies in her mouth. She picks one up and places it in front of his mouth. NMorrak looks away, and Katara glares.
"Eat this! Or no head for a week!" Katara said without a care, and the people passing by looked at them with bewilderment. Norrak groaned, and he took the candy into his mouth.
A slightly sweet taste entered his taste buds, but it was not all that. In his past life, he had eaten candy that was dozens of times better than whatever this crap was.
"Eh, it's whatever, I guess. It's not blowing my mind or anything. It's just mid, it's passable," Norrak judged with a cruel look, and the vendor looked at him with a glare.
"Then get out of here! You're blocking the way!" The vendor said, and he waved his arm. Shooing Norrak and Katara from the stand. Norrak shrugged, while Katara sighed.
"Man, what was that guy's deal? He was so mad for some reason," Norrak said, a smirk creeping onto his face as the two continued walking. In the distance, a massive circus could be seen.
But before the circus, a long, narrow tent was set up by the people, and it looked like a scary house meant to scare people. Norrak could not help but narrow his eyes in curiosity.
"It's about to hit the time, should we go now?" Katara asked, looking towards the circus, and Norrak shrugged. Katara took that as a yes as she took his palm into hers and moved towards the circus.
"Hey, Katara. How about we go into that haunted house first?" Norrak asked with a hint of longing, and Katara nodded with a smile. It's the first thing Norrak wanted all day.
"Sure, but make sure to not wander off," Katara said.
"Sure," Norrak replied.
