I couldn't take it anymore. The fear that had been building up inside me finally broke loose, and I screamed. My voice trembled as it echoed around the room, my entire body shaking uncontrollably. I stood up so fast that my chair scraped loudly against the floor, and the sound made me flinch even more.
Every man in the room turned to look at me like I had lost my mind. Their cold stares made me feel smaller, like I had suddenly found myself trapped in a room full of devils.
My breath came out in quick gasps, and all I could do was repeat the same thing over and over again, my words stumbling out of me in panic. "I'm a witness to a crime. Why did you kill him? Why did you kill him?"
