Chapter 24: Disgusting, Caesar!
Emilia couldn't sleep.
She left Dyan, who was already fast asleep on the bed, and poured herself a glass of golden wine before stepping out onto the balcony. The moonlight was soft tonight, brushing against her skin like silk.
"Why aren't you asleep?"
A deep male voice came from behind her.
Caesar stood there, dressed more casually than usual. His golden hair, normally slicked back with precision, now fell loosely across his forehead, softening his usual sharpness.
"Brother?"
Emilia glanced at him from the corner of her eye, then turned her gaze back to the moon with her usual indifference.
Her calm, distant tone pricked something inside Caesar.
He had only wanted to be close to her, to have the kind of bond siblings ought to share, yet Emilia was like a pufferfish; every time he approached, she bristled, driving him away with those invisible spikes of hers.
"About what happened tonight…"
Caesar hesitated.
"It wasn't me."
