Chapter 27: The Beginning of Chaos
Dyan lunged forward and caught her. "Your Highness!"
"I'm fine…" Emilia panted. "I've seen it… this is not a disease. It's a mana-contaminating curse… originating from… inside Milim's body. Someone has tainted her mana."
Demian recoiled in shock. "You mean… "
"The curse activates itself when the host touches the medium." Emilia wiped the smear of blood from her lip. "This outbreak is probably a blood-borne curse, but its source can't be identified yet."
Silence fell over the room. Only the ragged breathing of those present broke the stillness.
Caesar stepped forward, his voice thick. "Emilia, is there any way to cure it?"
Emilia glanced at Milim, then turned and shot Caesar a cold look. "First we must find out what object or item is the origin of this curse. Tell me, in detail, everything Milim has been doing these past few days."
"Understood."
Caesar summoned a servant and ordered him to take down a record of Milim's recent activities.
