SELENE'S POV
Okay, let me be honest. My daughter is trying to kill me. Not on purpose, of course. But she's definitely trying.
"Jolina Maria! Get down from there right now!" I yelled. My heart was doing that crazy pounding thing it does when she does something that could land us in the emergency room.
There she was, my five-year-old, standing on the windowsill like it was a balance beam. "But Mama! There's a bird family out here! The baby birds are learning to fly!"
"I don't care if they're learning to tap dance! You get down this instant!" I tried to sound like a stern mother, but I probably just sounded terrified.
She giggled that little laugh that usually makes me smile, but right now it just made me more nervous. She jumped down like it was nothing. "See? I'm fine. I was holding on tight."
