"That's a pretty good idea. The potential for this thing is definitely promising. You've got the same spirit I had when I was younger," Tony said, giving Peter an approving look.
Pepper was also looking at Peter with a smile, amazed by the young kid's genius.
As Iron Man's right hand, Pepper actually got a lot of information about Peter.
So, Pepper knew just as much about Peter as Iron Man did.
He was only 15 years old and went to a public school.
This showed that his achievements today were entirely due to his own talent, intelligence, and effort.
Don't let it fool you that Iron Man seemed indifferent to Peter; he had actually been keeping an eye on him.
Especially his school life.
Iron Man knew that he was using the school's lab equipment under the guise of a Stark internship program, but he didn't expose him. Instead, he donated some money and lab equipment to Midtown High School.
Unexpectedly, before his donation could be implemented, Peter gave him a surprise.
"I didn't expect you to actually bring something over, so I'll just open an account for you at the September Fund. The research funds and any money you earn will be put in there, and you can manage it yourself," Tony said casually.
These two research projects of Peter's were, of course, insignificant to the Stark Group, a huge enterprise.
But he and Pepper saw Peter's talent for scientific research in them.
And based on their observations of Peter, they also knew that he was kind-hearted and had upright values.
With superpowers, his first thought was to help others, not to do as he pleased.
That's enough to show a person's character and worldview.
That's also the reason why Tony had directly gifted Peter a Spider-Suit worth nearly ten million dollars.
That's right, nearly ten million, not the few million Peter thought.
A few million was just the price of the suit and some of the high-tech equipment inside.
The artificial intelligence in that suit was a separate AI that Iron Man specifically created, not a split-off copied from his Friday.
That AI alone would be enough to drive many people crazy.
"Pepper, I'll leave these to you," Tony pushed the one in his hand to Pepper as well.
Pepper picked up the two plans and their samples and stood up: "Alright, I'm just a hard worker. Who told you to be the BOSS?"
She looked at Peter again. "This guy did it on purpose. We knew the moment you came up, so don't worry about it."
Peter nodded quickly.
Tony looked at Pepper with some dissatisfaction. "Hey, why'd you say that? He needs to know he can't just break into people's houses. Let him learn a lesson."
Pepper rolled her eyes at him and turned to leave.
Tony tapped the table with his finger, then mimed grabbing a chunk of data and tossing it to Peter.
Peter was a little puzzled.
At that moment, his Spider-Suit flickered a few times.
Tony said, "You're more capable than I thought, so I've unlocked some of the locked functions in your suit."
Peter chuckled and scratched his head, feeling pretty accomplished after getting praised by Iron Man.
"But!" Tony paused, then continued, "That's not enough. Kid, you want to unlock all the features and completely own this suit?"
Peter nodded vigorously.
He absolutely did! Previously, he was just borrowing it at best.
But now, according to Iron Man, he was truly getting ownership!
Tony said, "There have been some guys popping up in Brooklyn recently. The weapons they're carrying look a lot like the technology the Chitauri Army used when they invaded New York a few years ago. We suspect someone's secretly manufacturing these weapons. The Special Intelligence Agency is investigating, but I don't trust them much. I can trust you, right, Peter?"
"Yeah!" Peter was getting excited.
"Good," Tony patted Peter's shoulder, "Let's see what you can do."
"Leave it to me, Mr. Stark!" Peter said solemnly. This was his first real mission, and he had to do a good job!
"Alright, you can stay here a little longer. There's a holographic gaming console over there, you can play on it for a bit, but remember to go home early," Tony stood up, preparing to leave.
Actually, he's been quite busy lately.
Because before, the members of the Avengers, Captain America and Falcon, were convicted of being criminals for harboring a suspect, along with the Winter Soldier. Originally, there was some room for maneuverability in this matter, but after a major battle at Berlin Airport, that room was gone, and the two were completely removed.
Hawkeye and Wanda, because they were in Captain America's camp, were also listed as criminals and expelled from the Avengers.
Black Widow, because she had privately let Captain America and the Winter Soldier go, also became a criminal and was removed.
Meanwhile, War Machine was seriously injured by Vision's accidental attack and remains unconscious to this day. Even if he wakes up, with his lower body paralyzed, it would be difficult for him to put on the Iron Man armor and fight again.
As for the remaining Thor and Hulk, one returned to Asgard, and the other disappeared during the battle with Ultron.
Even Vision, because of Wanda's arrest, coupled with the guilt of accidentally injuring War Machine, has been in a distracted state.
For a time, the Avengers were left with only Iron Man.
What kind of alliance is a one-man alliance?
Left hand holding the right?
This was also the reason why Tony contacted Peter.
Actually, he had originally planned to observe Peter for a while longer before deciding whether to officially bring him into the Avengers.
After all, Peter was too young, only 15 years old.
However, Peter's sharp insight and deductive abilities during their first meeting, his demonstrated control and adaptability in the battle at Berlin Airport, and the excellent research capabilities he had just shown...
A series of performances quickly raised Tony's evaluation of Peter.
He then decided to give Peter something that shouldn't have been given to him in the first place, to give it a try.
Treating it as a test.
If Peter could really pass this test, then he would personally invite Peter to become a true Avenger!
"Mr. Stark," Peter called out to Tony.
"Is there anything else? I've been a bit busy lately," Tony said, hinting for Peter to get to the point.
Peter said, "I was wondering, could I be an apprentice researcher in one of your biological labs? I..."
Tony looked at Peter intently, raised his wrist, and tapped a few times on the screen that popped up from his watch.
"Alright, there's a small biological lab that's just opened up. Do what you want there, and apply for whatever you need. You have the September Fund."
"Thank you, Mr. Stark."
"You're welcome. Anything else?"
"No, no."
"Then I'm off. See ya." Tony turned and left with a flourish.
