Dr. Connors's Regeneration Laboratory is located on the twenty-first floor of the Osborne Bio-Industry Building.
The lab is filled with a dazzling array of instruments.
Some, just by looking at them, look incredibly valuable.
However, what caught Hawke's attention the most was the stone in a transparent case visible through the glass in front of him.
Hawke didn't know what it was.
But his intuition told him it was what he was looking for.
Hawke's mind struck, and he glanced at Gwen.
"What's that?"
"What?"
Gwen was stunned at first, looking away from Max Dillon, who was repairing the machine, and then in the direction of Hawke's finger.
"Oh, that, gamma rays."
"?"
Gamma rays?
Hawke's mind once again quirked, his lips twitching. "My physics grades aren't as good as yours, but they're not bad either. When will gamma rays turn to stone?"
Gwen smiled.
But she thought for a moment, glancing around.
As if to make sure the other experimenters weren't paying attention, she lowered her voice and said to Hawke, "Do you remember the Hulk wreaking havoc in New York City in September 2009?"
Hawke paused for a moment, then nodded, "Of course I do."
How could he not remember?
That day was arguably the most unforgettable since he'd traveled through time.
It wasn't just because his cheat was launched that day.
There was another reason, too.
In short, Hawke couldn't remember that day more clearly.
Gwen shrugged.
"Then you should know the Abomination. He used the Hulk's blood to mutate into that hideous monster."
"Yeah."
Hawke nodded again, then, as if thinking of something, looked at Gwen.
"You mean, these stones are... the Abomination?"
"Of course not. They were shipped from the Quantico military base,"
Gwen said with a laugh. "The Hulk... Dr. Bruce Banner's mutation was caused by the Gamma Lab explosion, but some strange changes seem to have occurred during the explosion.
These stones were dug up from the lab where the explosion occurred."
Hawke was stunned.
"So you mentioned the Abomination..."
"Oh,"
Gwen shrugged, realizing. "I thought you didn't know the Hulk was Bruce Banner. After all, you don't have a computer or a phone..."
Gwen paused, then thought of something and looked at Hawke.
"You haven't bought a SIM card for the phone I gave you last time?"
Hawke pulled a phone resembling an iPhone 4 from his pocket. "Yes."
Gwen had given him this phone when he joined Osborn twenty days ago.
He hadn't wanted it, but Gwen offered him an offer he couldn't refuse.
Everyone knows that workers need to punch in.
Osborn is no exception.
And Gwen didn't give him a chance to refuse, pressing the phone into his hand and walking away.
Hawke took out his phone and shook it, then brought the conversation back to the stone in the glass lab that gave him a strange feeling.
"How did the stone from Quantico end up here?"
"Because Dr. Connors's experiment also has military support,"
Gwen explained.

To be more precise, most of the experimental projects Osborn funded had military support, with some even being run in partnership with the military.
After all, Osborn Industries and the military have always had a close relationship.
Initially, Osborn Industries was simply a canned herring factory.
But when the war arrived, the then-young Norman Osborn saw an opportunity and promptly sold the canned herring production line to produce weapons and ammunition.
Even today, while Osborn Bio-Industry no longer sells arms, it maintains a strong partnership with the military.
Take Dr. Connors, for example.
Dr. Connors's experimental projects were a collaboration between Osborn and the military, simply by locating the laboratory at Osborn Bio-Industry.
After all, Dr. Connors was a former military doctor.
Hawke nodded in understanding after listening to Gwen's explanation.
At that moment, in a laboratory behind glass, an experimenter was fixing a vial of an unknown serum and then manipulating a robotic arm to pick up the so-called gamma stone.
"What's going on?"
"Regeneration serum experiment."
"Lizard serum?"
Dr. Connors was attempting to study lizards, hoping to uncover the secret to their ability to regenerate severed limbs.
It wasn't exactly a secret.
After all, Dr. Connors's dissertation was there.
But most people weren't optimistic about the idea.
There were many reasons.
Hawke didn't bother to examine it closely.
After all, he hadn't considered pursuing a career in research, either before or now, even before his awakening.
Gwen, knowing Hawke's knowledge, nodded and said, "Dr. Connors thinks the combination of lizard serum and gamma rays might be what he's looking for."
Hawke nodded, then looked at the stone being lifted by the robotic arm.
An idea struck him, and he looked at Gwen. "Can I go in and take a look?"
He wanted to confirm.
Gwen's words reminded her of Hawke reading his dissertation in the library.
"You're not really interested in gamma rays that can turn people into monsters, are you?"
"No, I'm interested in the gamma rays inside this stone,"
Hawke shook his head.
Scientifically speaking, gamma rays can't be stored; after all, they disappear once emitted.
What?
This is the Marvel Universe, not science.
Okay, that's fine.
Gwen thought for a moment, and after confirming that she was simply taking Hawke to see Dr. Connors's experimental progress up close without spoiling anything, she nodded.
Hawke was delighted, but as he followed Gwen inside, he said to Max Dillon, who was repairing the stone, "Max, let me go in and take a look at that magical stone."
He didn't call him Mr. Dillon because Max wouldn't let him.
It seemed that because he knew Max's name, Max considered him a friend.
Hmm.
It would be better if Max's skin was a little lighter,
Hawke thought to himself.
Max, who was busy repairing something, turned around and gave a simple smile.
"Okay, I'll be done soon."
Hawke thanked him and followed Gwen, who had just swiped her card, into the lab.
Just then,as Hawke followed Gwen into the lab, his eyes once again fixed on the gamma stone held by the robotic arm.
Instantly,a message came from his inner universe.
It's it.
It's it.
That's it.
Gammanion!
