Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The beauty uses a mobile phone and the beauty uses a computer

In the evening,on the rooftop of the new apartment,

Hawke, who had just finished boxing, tugged at his shorts and sat down on the ground against the ventilation duct behind him.

He grabbed the cola beside him and took a swig .

At this moment,Hawke seemed to have thought of something, put the cola aside, and opened his right palm.

What caught Gwen's eye was that there was a trace of new skin that had completely disappeared.

After he awakened his microcosm, his strength, speed, and physique were all beyond the reach of mortals.

Without burning his microcosm , his strength could easily smash boulders, destroy thick walls, and even twist steel.

His speed could reach the speed of sound if he wanted to.

The same was true for his physique.

Even without the protection of his armor, he could withstand powerful impacts and blows that could kill an ordinary person instantly.

Moreover, even if injured, his healing ability, far surpassing that of an average person, allowed him to recover more quickly from fatigue and even minor injuries.

This was the case with the fragment ejected from the high-speed centrifuge today.

If he hadn't intervened, Gwen would have had no chance of survival; if nothing unexpected happened, she would have been decapitated by the fragment.

But that wasn't the point.

The point was Hawke recalled his impulsive attack, rubbing his left hand over the spot on his right palm where the pain had come.

Just as he frowned, unsure what to think, his phone rang.

Hawke, coming to his senses, paused for a moment, and looked at his phone, which had been ringing for the first time since he bought the phone card.

He answered.

"Hello?"

"...Yes, it's me. Are you here?"

"Okay, I'll be right there."

He hung up.

Hawke stood up from the ground, and with a whoosh, his figure disappeared from the spot.

When he reappeared, he had reached the escape stairs, then went back to his new apartment through the window, opened his backpack, and took out five hundred dollars from it.

His computer arrived.

Ten minutes later.

At the entrance of the Bridge Park across the street.

Hawke came to the entrance of the park, looked around at the empty area, took out his cell phone from his pocket, found the only number in the call log and dialed it.

At this moment, the lights of a van parked not far away flashed.

Hawke subconsciously looked towards the van.

The driver's door of the van opened, and then an Asian woman with thick brown hair, who looked to be in her early twenties at most, walked out and shook her cell phone at Hawke.

Hawke looked at the appearance of the Asian woman and couldn't help but raise his eyebrows.

Skye?

Skye, standing next to his van/RV, looked at Hawke as he approached.

"Superman is not as good as me?"   Hawke nodded. "Yes."

Skye didn't waste any words, pulling out a laptop and handing it to Hawke.

"It's just like I described it this afternoon. Three years old, 90% new.

I've already reinstalled the system. Check it out, and pay if it's okay."

Hawke hummed, not saying anything about not needing it, and took the laptop.

After all,it was a $500 piece of cake.

If he hadn't felt a bit embarrassed, he would have asked Gwen if she had any unused laptops she could give him.

As the saying goes, bottom lines are meant to be broken.

Although Gwen had forced this phone on him, he had accepted it.

But Hawke thought about it and decided that a man should be more reserved.

But he never expected that the random seller he'd found at the second-hand market to borrow the office computer that afternoon would be another well-known figure in the Marvel Universe Skye.

  The future of Quake.

Hawke sighed inwardly as he inspected the laptop Skye had brought for sale.

After confirming it booted properly and ran some of its included programs, he closed it and pulled the $500 he had prepared from his pocket and handed it over.

Skye took the five Franklins and examined them as well.

After a moment,Skye put away the $500, extended her hand toward Hawke, and said with a smile, "Happy working with you."

Hawke shifted the laptop to his left hand and held out his right hand as well. "Happy working with you."

  No pleasantries.

  Just buying and selling.

After the transaction was complete, Skye said nothing, got in, started his van, and drove off with a hum.

Hawke returned to his new apartment, placed the laptop Skye had bought him on the folding table, and placed the phone Gwen had given him next to it.

  Hmm.

So, comparing them, Gwen is still better.

  Wait, what am I thinking?

Hawke frowned again, shaking off the distracting thoughts from his mind.

He then connected the computer he'd bought from Skye to the mobile hotspot Gwen had given him.

  Next step:

  Quantico.

Hawke directly opened the satellite map page and located the coordinates of Quantico.

Although the satellite map obscured some confidential buildings and objects,it didn't matter.

Hawke only needed to glance at it to spot a dilapidated building surrounded by metal sheets.

He spent half an hour confirming that this building was Dr. Bruce Banner's laboratory at Quantico.

The internet is incredibly advanced now, especially after the reveal of the original Avengers, not to mention Bruce Banner's own reveal in 2009.

So information about Bruce Banner's life, why he became the Hulk, and when he became the Hulk, was readily available online.

Also, gossip about Bruce Banner's past relationship with Betty Ross had surfaced.

But that wasn't Hawke's main concern.

Hawke, in his new apartment, rested one hand on his chin, the other on his computer's touchpad, studying the on-screen description and satellite map of the Quantico military base.

His gaze fell on the locked, abandoned laboratory, a thoughtful expression on his face.

He felt like he might be about to break his own bottom line.

  There was no way.

He had no money, and even if he had, Quantico probably wouldn't sell him the gamma stone.

But he wanted the gamma stone.

After all, it was related to the armor.

So, there was only one way.

If you won't give it to me, I'll have to steal it.

But stealing Quantico's gamma stone is different from stealing Wakanda's vibranium.

  Let's put it this way.

Even if his seizure of Wakanda's vibranium was exposed, it wouldn't matter.

It's a bit like automatically matching teammates if he dared to start a team fight.

Then the world wouldn't come after him, but Wakanda.

It was a no-brainer that the Five Overlords would force Wakanda to hand over its vibranium, or at the very least, they would force Wakanda to agree to a UN military presence.

So Hawke didn't care about Wakanda at all.

  But robbing Quantico is different.

  But the gamma stone.

  I'm determined to get it.

Hawke's eyes flickered as he looked at the satellite map of Quantico on the computer screen.
