===========================================================
The news hit the world like a thunderclap.
"Big News" Morgans, in a journalistic frenzy, had plastered the story across the front page of every paper on the globe. The headline was a masterpiece of sensationalism: THE KING RISES! WHITEBEARD'S HEIR RECLAIMS SPHINX! Beneath it, a picture of Ace standing over the ashes of Blackbeard's flag. The article detailed everything: the survival of Whitebeard, Ace's new role as captain, and the shocking rebranding of the world's most infamous pirate crew.
Onigashima, Wano...
"Worororo... so the old man's whelp is finally making a move," Kaido slurred, his massive form draped over his throne, a giant gourd of sake in his hand. "He's got guts, I'll give him that. He should come here! A real battle is the only way to prove his worth!"
In a hidden room deep within the fortress, a figure with massive horns and flowing white-and-blue hair secretly read a smuggled copy of the paper. A wide, joyful grin spread across Yamato's face. "Ace..." she whispered, her eyes shining. "You're alive! You're keeping your promise!"
Whole Cake Island...
"Maaama-mamama!" Big Mom cackled, stuffing a massive slice of wedding cake into her mouth. "'The Burning Crown Pirates'? That little brat is renaming a legendary crew? How arrogant! Perospero, are the preparations for the tea party complete? Also the Fishman's island is..." The shift in the world's power was a mild curiosity, easily overshadowed by her own insatiable appetites.
Somewhere in the New World...
On the deck of the Red Force, the atmosphere was far more cheerful. Shanks leaned back in his chair, the newspaper held in his one hand, and let out a hearty, booming laugh that echoed across the calm sea.
"Hahahaha! Look at this, Benn!" he roared, showing the paper to his first mate. "'The Burning Crown Pirates'? That brat has style! He's not just taking the old man's place; he's forging his own legend!"
Benn Beckman took a long drag from his cigarette, a small, impressed smile on his face. "He's a D., Captain. They were never known for being subtle."
"That's for sure!" Shanks laughed again. "Ace is something else! just his naming sense isn't great"
Half Destroyed Marineford...
The atmosphere was decidedly less cheerful. Fleet Admiral Sakazuki slammed his fist on his desk, the molten rock burning a new, fuming crater in its surface.
"So the son of Roger spits in our faces once again," Akainu growled, his voice a low rumble of pure magma. "He takes a former Admiral as his right hand and thinks he can just reclaim his territory? This is what happens when justice is not absolute! This is the price of Sengoku's weakness!"
Back on the Moby Dick, the crew in question was planning their next move.
"Teach will be furious," Marco said, a grim satisfaction in his voice. "He'll have to respond."
"Let him," Ace said, his eyes scanning the map. "He thinks we're playing checkers. He's about to find out we're playing an entirely different game." His finger landed on the island of Bacchus. "We're not going to fight them," he said, a cunning glint in his eye. "They're going to fight each other."
The plan he laid out was so audacious, so devious, and so utterly disrespectful that Kuzan let out a genuine, booming laugh. Bonney, mid-bite, choked on a piece of turkey before pounding her chest and looking at Ace with a mixture of horror and star-struck admiration. The prince wasn't just a hero; he was a magnificent bastard.
Two days later, on the island of Bacchus, Ace's puppet show began. The illusions of the Golden Bell and the Sake River worked perfectly. Vasco Shot and Sanjuan Wolf, driven by their own greed and stupidity, turned on each other with the force of a natural disaster.
Blackbeard's new headquarters...
"ZEHAHAHAHA! So, the little lighter thinks he can take back his nest?" Marshall D. Teach roared with laughter as he received the report from Sphinx. "Let him have the sentimental trash! We hold the real prizes!"
Just then, a panicked Den Den Mushi on his desk began to ring. He answered it, his grin still wide. "What is it?"
"C-Captain!" a terrified voice shrieked from the other end. "It's Bacchus! Commander Vasco and Commander Wolf... they're... they're trying to kill each other! They're destroying the whole island!"
Blackbeard's grin vanished. The laughter died in his throat. His face, which had been a mask of arrogant amusement, slowly twisted into one of cold, murderous fury. He had been played.
From a safe distance, on the deck of his ship, Ace watched the self-inflicted carnage unfold through a pair of binoculars, a bucket of popcorn in his lap. When the fighting finally died down, he, Marco, and Kuzan descended from the sky.
The realization of how thoroughly they had been played dawned on the faces of the two defeated Titanic Captains.
Ace looked down at the two defeated giants, his grin vanishing, replaced by the cold, hard expression of a king. "You are a part of the crew that killed Thatch," he stated, his voice not a question, but a final judgment.
Vasco Shot, still half-drunk, tried to push himself up. "You... you tricked us, you bastard!"
"I did," Ace said calmly. He raised his right hand, and a swirling, shrieking sphere of blue-white plasma formed in his palm. "Rasengan: Nova." He looked Vasco dead in the eye. "This is for my brother."
He vanished. In a burst of speed that was too fast for even Marco to fully track, he appeared before the Titanic Captain and slammed the Nova into his chest. There was no explosion. Just a silent, searing flash of light that consumed Vasco Shot's entire torso, turning him to ash before his lower body even had time to fall.
Sanjuan Wolf stared in pure, childlike terror, his simple mind unable to process the speed and brutality of the act. He scrambled backward, trying to get away. "No... please..."
Ace didn't even look at him. He simply pointed two fingers, like a gun. "Higan."
It was not the small jet of fire from his past. A beam of pure, white-hot awakened flame, as thin as a needle but burning with the heat of a star, shot from his fingertips. It pierced the giant's massive forehead, punching a clean, cauterized hole straight through his skull. The Colossal Battleship's eyes went blank, and his mountain-sized body crashed to the ground with a world-shaking thud.
Silence.
Ace stood between the two dead commanders, his hand still outstretched, wisps of steam rising from his fingertips. He had just executed two of an Emperor's top commanders without breaking a sweat.
Marco landed beside him, his expression grim but resolute. This was the price of war. Kuzan landed on his other side, his lazy smile gone, replaced by a look of sharp, calculating respect. This was not the hot-headed boy from Marineford. This was a captain delivering on a promise.
Ace turned, his face a mask of cold resolve.
"Four down," he said to his crew. "Six to go."
