"You are wearing my clothes… why?" Xavier questioned, raising his eyebrows and turning his face towards Ash, who was dressed in blue jeans and a red, clear shirt."
"Come on," Ash cried, folding his hands in prayer, "you know all my clothes are black… look… I'll wash them, okay? I promise."
Xavier sighed as he heard him, shaking his head and placing his hands into his pockets.
"Yeah, sure, and don't forget to pay me back," he said, turning his eyes around as if searching for something. "Getting into this place is expensive as it is… and I had to pay for the two of us."
Ash pouted, then swung his arm around Xavier's shoulder.
"Bro, you're rich," he smiled, noting how Xavier was softly sighing. "We both know you don't want me to pay you… But okay, since it might make you feel better, I'll pay you back."
Xavier's eyes shimmered in the direction he was looking, a faint smirk passing his lips before he turned to Ash.
"Yeah, whatever," he said, shrugging his shoulders. "I'll come find you. I… have to do something real quick." He walked forward, turning a glance back at Ash. "I'll probably meet you on one of the rides, just… stay out of trouble."
Ash just clicked his tongue, watching Xavier retreat toward one of the many game stands on the far side.
A smile suddenly crept onto his lips, hand tightening on the black bag he was holding.
He turned around, fixing his eyes on the surroundings, until he noticed a bridge that seemed to lead to the woods.
His lips smirked to the point of almost creaking into giggles.
He nearly approached it, almost running the entire way, but just as his feet were about to take a single step.
"Ash!" a voice that sounded too enthusiastic said from behind him.
He turned, nearly hoping he hadn't, because the voice made it easy to predict who it belonged to.
"Enid…" Ash said, faking a smile. And Enid's face immediately brightened.
'He remembers my name,' she thought, eyes almost widening in joy.
Ash moved the bag he was holding behind him, as the sound of bottles slamming against one another made a small, barely audible sound.
Enid's eyes instinctively moved to the bag, her ears clearly enhanced because of her wolf-shifting nature.
"So…" Ash's voice interrupted her, causing her to turn her eyes from the bag to him. "What can I do for you?"
Enid's smile brightened, hands now folded behind her, body almost jumping upward, as if her figure was listening to joyful music only audible to her.
"Well, since we're both here, I just thought we should hang out," she said, then widened her eyes, processing what she had blurted out. "I mean, it doesn't have to be the two of us alone… unless you want it…"
"I heard Ajax was looking for you," Ash said, breaking the completion of her sentence. "And either way… I have to go somewhere."
He noted how she frowned when he said it.
She sighed, its sound mostly overpowered by her breath.
"It was nice seeing you," he said, touching her shoulder and then tapping it. "See you around."
He started walking with quick steps, unbothered to stare back at the girl he had unknowingly caused to crush a fantasy, a girl he had made look for someone different; a replacement.
—--------------------------------------------------------------
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The night brightened as fireworks exploded in the darkened sky, adding a touch of color to the otherwise black landscape.
"Damn!" Ash said, climbing onto a rock that was larger than four feet, looking up at the sky, mesmerized by the lights he had only seen in movies. "Hahaha…" he softly giggled, moving his hands and opening the bag he was holding, taking out a joint of weed, one he had secretly prepared in the bathroom at dawn.
He took a lighter, which he had stolen from one of the carnival stalls, put the joint in his mouth, then lit it.
COUGH!
He was inexperienced when it came to smoking, so the joint nearly killed him. But he had prepared for far too long, so within seconds he adapted.
He moved his hands to his bag once again, this time taking out a bottle of whiskey, the same bottle he had stolen from Grandma Frump.
He opened the cap, giggling in agitation, clearly addicted to its effects.
"Rowan!" a girl's voice interrupted him before he could take a single sip.
He turned to her, eyes nearly intrigued when he noticed that it was the Addams he was once worried about.
'She's chasing someone,' he thought to himself. 'Interesting.'
Ash just shrugged his shoulders, eyes now fixed toward them as if he were watching a 4D movie.
"What do you want?" a weird boy with glasses spat. "Why are you following me?"
"I don't have time to explain," Wednesday replied, her voice sounding serious. "But you're in danger."
Ash almost giggled hearing her speak; it really was a movie.
He twisted the bottle's cap, eyes and ears still listening to their exchange. then chugged his first shot, almost drowning from it while laughing to himself.
"I think you got it backward," the weird boy with glasses suddenly said, causing even Ash, who was on the far back listening to them, to be taken by surprise.
PLOT TWIST!
Wednesday launched onto a tree, body fully suspended on it like a piñata.
Ash nearly spat his alcohol when he witnessed it, giggling in disbelief, truly stunned to witness such a development.
Then the weird, glassed boy started talking about some uninteresting prophecies Ash didn't really care much to pay attention to.
Then he started choking her, ruining the mood in less than an instant.
Ash sighed, shaking his head as he wondered why the weird boy with glasses had to take it this far.
He paused for a while, questioning if he should really assist. He then reminded himself who the girl was, shaking his head, turning off his joint, and placing the bottle of whiskey back into his bag, perhaps finally realizing that assisting her was not a choice but an obligation.
So he stood up, stretched his arms, and then moved toward them without thinking.
A foolish decision, stupidly made because of his drunken state.
One that stopped him from noticing that the lad he was approaching was simply far too different.
