"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 197: Yuri Has No Future—The Pink Dumpling Method

Maybe those anime worlds really do exist.

For a moment, a spark of realization flickered in the girls' eyes—equal parts wonder and dread.

Shuo Nangong, unfazed by their shock, kept talking as if nothing had happened.

"Now that Origami's hatred is gone, she probably won't resent Spirits anymore."

He glanced around the room. "So, everyone—try to get along with her, okay?"

Tohka gave a reluctant nod. "Mm… fine. I'll listen to Shuo."

Shuo ruffled her hair, smiling. "Good girl. Tonight you get a deluxe dinner as a reward!"

Tohka beamed and hugged him, basking in the praise.

But then Kotori cut in, her voice dripping with disdain.

"Tch! Don't pretend I don't know what's going on in your head, you total hentai. I bet you've been eyeing Origami all along."

Everyone turned, their gazes growing more suspicious by the second.

After all, Shuo had a reputation.

First time they met, he'd declared he wanted to give the Spirit girls a home. And now, Origami really had become a Spirit.

Coincidence? Not likely.

"Hey, Kotori, don't go making wild accusations! That's slander. I'm just trying to save people here!"

Shuo tried to sound noble, but the girls weren't buying it.

Tohka, Shiori, Nia, and the rest exchanged glances.

"That's so you," they said, their expressions somewhere between amused and exasperated.

It was the look that said, "Yeah, we know your type."

Shuo huffed. "Come on, I'm a devoted, honest guy! Don't go branding me a criminal."

The girls just stared, unimpressed, waiting for him to keep digging his own grave.

Tohka suddenly turned to Kotori, puzzled.

"But why did Kotori hide being a Spirit?"

Kotori froze, searching for an answer, then forced a weak smile.

"Uh… maybe Kotori has her reasons. Let's not pry," Shuo offered, rescuing her from the awkwardness.

But a second later, he switched gears, putting on a mock-angry face.

"All of this—Murasame Reine's fault! For the sake of her dead lover, she caused so much trouble. It's just evil."

He paused, then grinned wickedly.

"And besides… doesn't she know? Yuri is beautiful, but you can't make babies that way."

He tossed the question to Shiori and Reine, eyes twinkling with mischief.

Shiori blinked, caught off guard. "Eh? Me?"

After a moment, she replied,

"Um… it is a bit much. She ignored everyone else's feelings, and innocent people got hurt."

Reine (Mio) just stared, speechless, then gave a silent thumbs-up—resigned to her fate.

To celebrate Yoshino and Yoshinon joining the group, everyone threw a welcome party.

The next morning, Shuo stretched luxuriously, feeling like today was another chance to help a lost girl.

He'd woken up early; Tohka and the others were still asleep. So he headed for the kitchen.

Ten minutes later, the scent of breakfast lured the resident foodie out of bed.

Tohka wandered in, surprised to see Shuo in an apron.

"You're cooking today? Didn't expect you up so early," she said.

Shuo coughed, feigning seriousness.

"Hey! You make it sound like I'm always sleeping in."

Tohka, oblivious, tapped her lips.

"Well… usually Kotori has to drag you out of bed."

Shuo, not about to lose face, scooped up a pink dumpling and popped it into her mouth.

"Let's see if food can finally shut you up."

He watched as Tohka chewed, then licked a trail of juice from her lips.

For a second, his heart skipped.

He picked up another bowl of pink dumplings. "Tohka, I want to eat dumplings too."

Tohka blinked. "Then eat them."

Shuo shook his head. "No, I want to try a new way of eating them."

He fed her another dumpling. "Don't swallow."

(Use your imagination.)

A few moments later, Tohka was curled shyly against his chest, cheeks flushed.

Shuo whispered, "Tohka."

"Mm?"

"I still want to try new ways to eat dumplings."

Only when the bowl was empty did they finally part, Tohka acting as if nothing had happened as she went to wake the others for breakfast.

When the girls trickled in and saw Shuo at the stove, their faces registered surprise.

Kotori looked positively scandalized.

"Did the sun rise in the west today? The big lazybones actually got up early and made breakfast?!"

Shuo rolled his eyes, refusing to stoop to her level.

Nia tried a dumpling, eyes lighting up.

"Whoa, these are good! You've got skills, kid."

Shuo waved her off. "Ah, don't flatter me. I only dabble in cooking."

Truth was, ever since mastering a thousand types of magic, he picked up new skills with ease.

That's how his cooking had gotten so good.

There's a saying: The way to a girl's heart is through her stomach.

Kotori took a bite, instantly hooked, but kept her tongue sharp.

"Tch! Compliment you a little and you get all full of yourself."

Shuo grinned. "Just wait 'til you turn sixteen, Kotori. Then we'll see who's boss."

Kotori's cheeks flared.

"Pervert! Wolf! Creep! Lolicon!" she shrieked, threatening to call the police and have him thrown in jail.

Breakfast ended in laughter, and together they headed off to school.
