"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 198: Origami's Outrageous Way of Saying Thanks
Raizen High, Class 2-4. Shuo Nangong had barely stepped into the classroom when Origami grabbed his wrist and pulled him right back out.
He thought she just wanted to thank him for reviving her parents—maybe a quick word, maybe a bow. He didn't overthink it, just followed her lead.
But as Origami hustled him past the usual rooftop rendezvous and out toward the school gates, Shuo finally had to ask,
"Origami? Where are we going?"
She stopped. Turned. Her eyes sparkled with a strange mix of excitement and hope.
Without warning, she reached under her skirt and produced a paper bag.
Yes, under her skirt. Shuo stared, half-convinced Origami kept a dimensional pocket down there.
Weapons, gadgets, paperwork—at this point, she could probably pull out a kitchen sink.
"Shuo-kun, thank you so much for bringing my parents back!"
Origami bowed deeply, her gratitude raw and earnest.
Shuo waved his hands, flustered.
"Uh, it was nothing, really. I'm just glad you're okay. But… you didn't need to drag me off campus to say thanks."
Origami ignored the protest. She fished out a stack of paperwork from the bag, her voice gentle but determined.
"I saw on TV that when a girl wants to thank someone, she should offer herself in marriage. So let's go get our marriage certificate."
She blushed, hugging Shuo tightly, her face blissful.
"I've got all the documents ready!"
Shuo's jaw nearly hit the pavement.
Where did she even get this idea?
But he knew Origami wasn't joking—her tone was dead serious.
He scrambled for words, suddenly nervous.
"Origami, slow down! You may be sixteen, but you're still growing. Besides, I'm actually eighteen—my parents fudged my age by two years. Or… maybe you prefer guys with bigger chests?"
Origami didn't miss a beat. "Actually, I like—"
Shuo cut her off, shaking his head, half-laughing, half-panicked.
Sometimes, he wondered how Origami's mind worked—so logical, so bizarre, so… her.
He did care for her. She'd make an amazing wife. But if he actually married her now, the girls at home would riot.
He softened his tone, trying not to hurt her.
"Origami, let's not rush. We can talk about marriage later, okay?"
Origami fell silent. After a long pause, she looked up, her blue eyes locking onto his.
"I want to ask you something."
He nodded.
"Do you… really like me?"
Shuo smiled, pulling her close.
"Of course I do. I like you a lot—honestly, I've even imagined you as my wife."
"If you don't believe me, I—"
Origami pressed a finger to his lips, stopping him.
"No. I've always believed you. Thank you."
He said nothing more, just stroked her hair as she nestled against him.
After a few quiet moments, Origami finally led him back to the classroom.

Back at his desk, Shuo noticed Tohka's pout was practically carved into her face.
With Tohka, there were only two things that could ruin her mood:
One, kinako bread was sold out;
Two, he'd done something stupid.
Given what just happened, Shuo was pretty sure it was option two.
He grinned, sniffing theatrically.
"Tohka, do you smell vinegar? It's so strong in here!"
Tohka, ever the innocent, actually sniffed the air.
But when she caught Shuo's teasing smile, she realized instantly.
Her cheeks flushed, eyes darting away.
"Hmph! I'm not jealous at all!"
She looked every bit the tsundere, and Shuo couldn't resist pushing her buttons.
"Okay, okay, Princess Tohka isn't jealous. Not one bit…"
Tohka snapped, lunging at him like a hungry tiger.
It took some gentle coaxing— and a promise to buy her kinako bread after school—before her smile finally returned.
