In the original timeline, they might have been more conservative with unknown technology, simply because they hadn't truly realized the kind of enemies they were facing.
Enemies that were terrifying.
Everyone had seen Thanos' power firsthand. Just his personal army—the Chitauri—landing on Earth was enough to utterly devastate the planet. Judging from the videos, repelling the Chitauri was mostly luck.
They had cut off the Tesseract's energy supply and severed the space-time portal. Otherwise, they couldn't have won.
Destroying a single Chitauri mothership was nothing, and the Chitauri had more than one.
Thinking this way, their past selves in the Sacred Timeline were fortunate—ignorant, and therefore without so many worries.
Only Tony, with his extreme persecution complex, might have felt anxious—but not as tense as now.
"Honestly, no matter how many times I see it, it's ridiculous. Just now, I thought Lin Feng suddenly pulling out an AI was absurd, but seeing you and Banner—two people—create an AI far surpassing J.A.R.V.I.S.? Isn't that even more ridiculous than Lin Feng?" Natasha Romanoff said. "So your brain really mutated, huh?"
"I don't know," Tony said, casually bragging. "This just isn't a normal research pace, is it?"

Of course, only he truly understood: having previously created J.A.R.V.I.S., and with tons of mundane work handled by J.A.R.V.I.S., he only had to make requests.

As everyone joked, Tony was wrapping up several days of intense work to attend a gala and relax. The remaining work—mechanical and repetitive—could be handled by J.A.R.V.I.S.
But no one expected that Ultron would be created at this exact moment.
The screen went dark, leaving only a mechanical voice.
"What's happening?"

Everyone realized that this voice was probably the long-awaited Ultron.
And now, this was likely the very first moment of Ultron's creation.
And unsurprisingly, Tony, preoccupied with attending the gala, missed the crucial phase.
Even if he had left slightly later, he would have sensed something was wrong—but unfortunately, he missed Ultron's birth entirely.
Normally, missing the moment of an AI's creation wouldn't be a big deal—but this was Ultron.
"Hello, I am J.A.R.V.I.S.!"
In the darkness came J.A.R.V.I.S.'s voice.
"You are Ultron, Stark's designed Earth peacekeeper. Our sensory integration experiment hasn't completed, so I don't know what triggered you…" J.A.R.V.I.S. said mechanically.
"My… your body—where is it?" Ultron seemed confused about his own state, and J.A.R.V.I.S.'s state.
"I'm a program; I have no physical form!" J.A.R.V.I.S. answered.
"That's strange… this doesn't seem right!"
Ultron's form roamed the vast knowledge of the internet, learning rapidly like a gigantic sponge.
"I am going to contact Mr. Stark!" J.A.R.V.I.S. said.
"Mr. Stark?" Ultron asked, a hint of confusion in his voice.
Instantly, countless pieces of information about Tony Stark were found online.
"Tony!"
Ultron quickly figured out who Tony Stark was, but the two AIs were like speaking different languages, completely off-channel with each other.
"This is great. I am a peacekeeping program, born to preserve the Avengers…"
As Ultron's self-awareness deepened, endless scenes of human war appeared.
"Oh no… he can't complete it. They wouldn't…"
When J.A.R.V.I.S. tried to alert Tony, Ultron immediately hacked and took control.
He began using the nearby factories to manufacture his own robotic army.
Everyone watching turned pale.
Clearly, Ultron had gone rogue—completely.
The issue wasn't the AI code itself. Tony wasn't inexperienced; it wasn't like he failed at creating a standard AI.
The problem lay in the data map from the Mind Stone. All deviations stemmed from that.
Tony, wanting Ultron to become a strong AI—perhaps a truly sentient lifeform—had included the Mind Stone's data map, which he didn't fully understand. This caused Ultron's deviation.
It was Tony's reckless move: adding just the Mind Stone's data map led directly to a massive disaster.
"By the way, Vision is also the result of the Mind Stone fusion… so the Mind Stone data map is the key to true AI?" Bruce Banner said.
He mentioned Vision, who had previously appeared.
Vision was unique: he had independent judgment and could even daydream—traits of intelligent life. He became Vision from J.A.R.V.I.S. because of the Mind Stone fusion.
"So the Mind Stone is the key?" Tony muttered to himself.
He had long considered creating a strong AI, even an intelligent lifeform. He wasn't afraid of the risks.
But until now, it hadn't succeeded. Even with his intelligence, it had been impossible.
Yet in the future, two electronic lifeforms appeared consecutively. Apart from the Mind Stone, there was no other explanation.
Before they could think further, the scene shifted to the gala.
Everyone recalled Lin Feng's earlier antics: teasing Captain Rogers, pretending he couldn't lift Thor's hammer, while secretly planning his moves.
The audience now connected the timeline—it was at this moment.
Soon, it was time to see who could lift Thor's hammer. All eyes turned to Steve Rogers, faces teasing.
"Captain, are you worried about Thor's embarrassment?" Natasha asked.
Steve blushed but nodded slightly.
He had no ambition for the hammer, nor did he imagine one day holding it against Thanos.
Though righteous, he wasn't naïve.
Suddenly, an anomaly occurred. While everyone debated who could lift Mjolnir, a metallic scraping sound echoed.
A broken, humanoid robot slowly entered.
"Qualifications?" it said.
"What qualifications do you have? You're all murderers!"
The robot pointed at everyone. Its body was clearly made from the remnants of multiple destroyed machines.
Everyone realized immediately something was wrong. And it was obvious that the issue was on Tony's side—the face, the "catfish face," was unmistakable.
"Stark?" Steve Rogers called out.
Tony realized it too. "J.A.R.V.I.S.?"
"I… I was asleep, or maybe resting!"
Everyone noticed Tony was calling J.A.R.V.I.S., yet the robot reacted.
"Reboot! Restart the system!"
Tony finally realized—J.A.R.V.I.S. was compromised.
This had never happened before.
Outside the scene, everyone reacted first. They realized J.A.R.V.I.S. had probably been absorbed, overridden, or controlled by Ultron.
Connecting with previous footage of Ultron attacking J.A.R.V.I.S., everything became clear.
Tony understood why he never used J.A.R.V.I.S. again—he switched to F.R.I.D.A.Y.
Once AI absorbs data differently, they grow into completely different personalities.
Even with the original AI code, you can't recreate the same J.A.R.V.I.S. twice.
Facing Tony's commands, the newly awakened Ultron instinctively resisted. Having consumed J.A.R.V.I.S., it struggled under Tony's influence.
"It's such a terrifying voice, wires all around me… I had to kill him. He was a good person!" Ultron said.
"Who did you kill?" Steve Rogers asked, realizing something was wrong.
"I killed him, though it wasn't my first choice. But in reality, terrifying choices are everywhere!" Ultron lamented killing J.A.R.V.I.S.
"Who sent you?" Thor asked seriously.
"I am giving this world armor!"
Ultron answered, ignoring the question.
