Vanessa was completely speechless when I asked her that question, and that was exactly the expression I wanted her to give. I knew that we had been enemies to each other for a long time, and even though I did not understand why she hated me and I could not really say if I hated her or not, I knew at that instance that any form of weakness was going to make her triumph over me, seeing that she claims to have the upper hand in that house.
"How dare you speak to me like that? "Do you know our history? Do you know how far we have come together? Because you have no right to talk to me like that," she said to me as she raged towards me and slapped me heavily across the face.
The slap was so heavy that I lost my balance for a second and struggled to find my footing as I took some steps backwards in a stagger before standing back and staring at her in shock with my hand held onto my face.
