Chapter 15 - Cassie's POV.

I was staring at the doctor, but he kept avoiding my gaze when I asked that question. He slowly took the seat beside me on the couch and tried changing the topic when he asked me how I was feeling.

Donald was not an interesting person to talk about, and I would rather not talk about anything at all than want to know anything about him, but also I did not want to tell a Doctor who I did not know anything about myself either.

"Just leave me alone; I will be fine when I've had enough rest," I said, looking away from him.

"That sounds like words from an experienced doctor. Do you have a background in medicine?" He asked me, and I could almost see a smile curl up on the corner of his lips, but I looked away from him again.

"Just leave me alone; I do not want to talk," I said to him, insisting that he leave.

"You know the reason I asked the alpha to give me a minute to speak to you is because I realised that you would need that moment to breathe away from his intimidating presence, and that was why I did it. I know whatever is going on here is very tough for you, but you need to try hard not to make it way more difficult than it already is." He said.

"I have told him several times that I do not want to do this; I just need a way to get out of this situation. Since you are a wolf doctor, you should know how I can take out this pregnancy and not kill myself in the process," I said to him as I adjusted myself on the couch, staring right into his eyes as if I was searching them.

He looked away immediately and then back to me again. "In whatever you do, however you choose to display your stubbornness to the alpha, I beg you not to mention that you want to take out this child," he said to me, and this time he was whispering.

"Or what? What could he possibly do to me that would make things any worse? I mean, if taking out this child is going to give me my life back, I am definitely going to do that, whether he wants me to or not. "I do not have to do what he says," I said to him, sounding very clear.

"Bring your voice down, miss. I have no interest in witnessing your death. "If you keep doing this, you're definitely going to lose you, and you know it," he said to me, and I could see a trace of fear in his eyes, a kind that showed that whatever it is he was talking about was not a joke.

"Do you know how?" I asked him this time in a low voice as I turned my gaze away from him, staring blankly into the living room.

His response then was going to determine my reaction because if there was any way I could take out that child, I was going to do it no matter what.

"I cannot tell you anything specifically that would work and see to the successful termination of this pregnancy. Everyone I know who has intentionally tried to take out the wolf child during pregnancy has killed themselves in the process, but it does not mean that no one has ever lost a pregnancy as a wolf; it happens by accident, and there are no intentional efforts that can be put into it," he said to me.

"I do not get it. You mean I cannot take out the child if I want to; it can only happen by an accident?" I asked him, trying to understand if I truly had heard him clearly.

"Yes, I have witnessed a few pregnant wolves lose their children in a miscarriage, but it has only always been by accident, and mysteriously, it only happens to those who desperately try to protect it," he said to me.

"You are not helping out, you know that, right? I know he's your boss or whatever it is you call him, but you've got to help me. My life is on the line here, and he's asked me to put all of my life on standbyand do what he says. I know that the only thing keeping me here is this pregnancy, and if there is a way I can take it out, I will be having my life back, and that is all I want," I said to him, and at this point my voice was already breaking.

"I am sorry there is no way I can help you. The only help I can offer you right now is to make sure that you yourself are in good health because you also need to take care of yourself. The wolf pregnancy cycle is very different from the human being's and your own completely," he said to me and took another step, but I adjusted myself.

"Why don't we wrap this up and let him believe that we have done something that will at least give you a moment to rest?" He asked me in a whisper, and at that moment I stared at him for a second, but before I could say a word, the door cracked open and Donald stepped in.

"What's going on?" he asked; his deep masculine voice made a shiver run through my spine.

I also noticed the doctor adjust himself immediately when he noticed Donald's presence, and I wondered why all of them were always shaken by his presence, just like me.

"She has agreed to take the treatment; there's no need to bother," he said to Doughnut, standing up on his feet.

I followed his gaze up to him, knowing I had not agreed to that.

"Doctor Alex, can I speak to you?" Donald asked in a calm tone, making both our gazes turn to him in unison.
