Chapter 2 - 2: Reading Manga Grants You Rewards?

"Just an ordinary manga shop owner?"

Lumine and Paimon exchanged glances, suspicion flickering in their eyes.

Could a normal store owner really know their identities right off the bat?

"There are currently two manga available in the shop: One Piece – East Blue Arc and Cardcaptor Sakura. Want to give it a try?"

Han Feng gestured to the nearby bookshelf, smiling casually.

"Anyone who reads a manga is guaranteed a random reward from the story."

He didn't bother explaining further. The real priority? Getting them to pay and read.

As for how he knew who they were… what could he say? "Oh, I met you in a video game"?

"To explain—manga are books with more pictures and fewer words," Han Feng added, just in case they didn't understand.

Teyvat might not have manga, but novels existed. With that comparison, they should be able to grasp the concept.

But once they understood, both girls looked utterly incredulous.

"You mean reading manga can give you actual rewards?! Even improve your strength?" Lumine was visibly shocked.

In their experience, improving one's power typically came from training or gaining a Vision. If reading manga could do the same, why wasn't this place packed with people?

"Lumine, I think this guy's pulling our leg. That sounds way too far-fetched," Paimon whispered skeptically.

Han Feng chuckled and looked at her with a sly glint in his eyes. "Little one, there's a magical item in one of the manga—it's called the Gourmet Tablecloth. Just say the name of a dish, and it'll appear right in front of you."

"Huh? There's something like that? So I could eat anything I want anytime?"

Just imagining it made Paimon drool.

"Lumine, I think he might be telling the truth!"

"..."

Lumine put her hands on her hips and gave Paimon a helpless look.

Only someone like her would be so easy to fool.

Seriously, how could such a miraculous item exist in the real world?

Han Feng took a sip of tea and said lightly, "If you want to find your brother, your current strength isn't enough. Even at your peak, it wouldn't be. Your enemies… are far stronger than you think."

The twins—Lumine and Aether—were powerful, capable of traveling between worlds. Even the Archons of the Seven couldn't do that.

But in the face of Celestia… even they were insignificant.

"You know where my brother is?"

Lumine's eyes lit up as she quickly pressed forward.

From what he was saying, it sounded like he knew something important.

"Follow the path through the seven nations—you'll cross paths eventually," Han Feng replied softly.

If the story was progressing normally, Aether should already be here.

Lumine fell silent for a moment, then nodded. After a pause, she asked, "Boss, how much does it cost to read a manga?"

She still wasn't entirely sure what to make of him, but he clearly wasn't just some random bookstore owner.

If he truly had such knowledge, then maybe… the reward system was real too.

"100,000 Mora per person. Only one read allowed per day."

"100,000 Mora?!! That's robbery!"

Paimon's eyes widened in disbelief.

That much Mora could buy her plenty of food in Mondstadt. Definitely more cost-effective than a book.

But… if she got that Gourmet Tablecloth, wouldn't that mean unlimited food forever?

Even while camping in the wild, food wouldn't be a problem.

Paimon was visibly torn.

Lumine let out a soft sigh.

Now she understood why there weren't any customers.

Clearly, the price tag had scared them all off.

As for the so-called "reward"…

Until she saw it with her own eyes, she couldn't be sure it was real.

If not for her gut feeling that Han Feng wasn't an ordinary person, she might've walked out too.

100,000 Mora to read a manga—what a luxury.

But once she made up her mind, Lumine didn't hesitate. She pulled out 200,000 Mora and placed it on the counter.

"Can we read now?"

"Of course. The two books on that shelf—you can take your pick," Han Feng said, collecting the money.

With two customers officially served, he'd now met the condition to unlock a new manga.

But he wasn't in a rush. He could draw later.

Curious, Lumine and Paimon approached the bookshelf and picked up a volume each.

Unlike novels, which separated text and illustrations, manga used panels—each frame showing characters, actions, and speech bubbles all in one.

"So this is manga. It's pretty fun," Lumine remarked.

This new format instantly drew both girls in.

After a brief discussion, they decided to each read one. That way, they could share the stories later.

Lumine chose One Piece – East Blue Arc.

Paimon went with Cardcaptor Sakura.

They settled into the sofas in the main hall and began reading in earnest.

Before long, they were completely absorbed.
