That was the most absurd thing Ava had ever heard in her life. What in the world was he thinking by adding such a statement? Did he already forget who she was so soon?
She gave him a critical look. "Aren't you… afraid that I'll use that against you?"
Eitan studied her for a moment, then he shrugged lightly. "If you do, I can just divorce you… or send you to jail, whichever you prefer."
Ava flinched. She had almost forgotten that he had evidence of her crime. It was a brilliant way to threaten her, she had to admit. Her gaze lowered. "Why… are you doing all this for me?"
Eitan stiffened. "...You could say it's an apology… of sorts…"
Ava looked up at him, visibly confused. "Apology? For what?"
Eitan let out a weary sigh. "You're better off not knowing… trust me."
Ava nodded. If he said she was better off not knowing, then she was better off not knowing. She didn't want to gain any sort of knowledge that would make her despair.
