The glass cup Ava was holding in her hands, slipped to the ground, shattering into countless pieces. That was more than enough to draw both the Nurse's and Eitan's undivided attention to her.
The moment Eitan met her wide, fearful eyes, he turned to the Nurse sharply. "Give us a minute."
The Nurse jolted. "Oh, yes. Of course, Mr. Berger." She said before she slipped back behind the door and pulled it shut.
One of Ava's hands went to grasp at her hair. Her mind reeled back and forth and she could hardly think properly as she clutched at the fabric at her chest side. Her breath started to come out in short gasps.
"Ava." Eitan called softly, placing a hand on her shoulder.
What in the world was that man doing in San Francisco?! All the way from New York? Did he really come to see her just because she was admitted, without any motive in mind?
That was impossible.
The more Ava thought about it, the less she could wrap her head around why he had taken his time to fly this far.
