In a few moments, they had reached the side of the vault, and looking into it, they not only saw the vial but also some other items, namely: three Rank 6 HTB suit vessels, a flash drive, and the gun which she had used earlier to shoot them.
Leng Shi's hand shot out, straight for the vial. "Got it" he said as he brought it out of the vault.
"How can we not collect interest after coming this far" said Lei Shi as he also dipped his hands in the vault.
"Idiot! Let's scram!" Leng Shi yelled at Lei Shi with a tone full of urgency.
*Brrrr* *Hong*
Suddenly, the Rank 6 HTB suit vessel that Lei Shi was trying to pick suddenly glowed with light coming from it cervices and shot out of the vault, towards the Research Rector. It collided with the ice that enveloped her and began cracking it as it inched towards her.
"Fuck! Is this thing alive?" exclaimed Lei Shi after seeing the sudden movements of the HTB suit vessel. He then changed targets and grabbed the remaining two Rank 6 HTB suits and pulled them out of the vault.
Leng Shi, on the other hand, after seeing the movements of the HTB suit vessel said "Since they want to fuck us over; then let's fuck them over". He then shot his empty hand out at the flash drive and added "To hell with being a gentleman!" But as his hand was touching it, the Rank 6 HTB was also coming in contact with the Research Rector.
"Ninja!!!" Lei Shi screamed.
Boom BOOM
There were two explosions. One was an explosion of black smoke which blotted out everyone's vision while the other, which was more terrifying, was an explosion of Sound waves which shattered the surrounding glass. The former was caused by Lei Shi who, after getting ahold of the Rank 6 HTB suit vessels, had been closely monitoring the progress of the Rank 6 HTB suit that was cracking the ice, trying to unite with the Research Rector, while the latter was caused by the Research Rector as soon as her body had come in contact with the Rank 6 HTB suit.
The sound caused by the Research Rector, similar to that of a sonic boom, shattered the ice that restrained her and caused the window glass of her office to shatter. Upon looking around and only seeing black smoke, she activated the X-ray vision of her HTB suit, and noticing the disappearance of the twins, she immediately charged out of her office and rushed down the staircase, chasing them.
The twins, on the other hand, were firing their thrusters to the limit as they blitzed down the stairs. Instead of slowing down before turning when they reached landings, they landed with their feet on the walls of the landings, and propelled themselves downwards through the next set of stairs, using the full power that their HTB suits could provide their legs, coupled with the propulsion provided by their thrusters, to augment their speed.
They were moving fast, so fast that the people who were walking either up or down the stairs didn't even see them clearly, speak less of them blocking them.
Even though the twins looked cool as they escaped, their minds were actually disoriented, and they were doing all these movements instinctively.
One of Leng Shi's ears was bleeding. The disorientation and bleeding from the ear were all caused by the Sound waves explosion caused by the Research Rector. The disorientation was another reason they chose to be landing on the walls. By landing on the walls, they will always be in control of their centers of gravity and wouldn't be flying with dizzy heads.
Quickly, they reached the ground-floor and without a moment's delay, they charged, full throttle, at the exit.
The guards, who had earlier heard a loud sound come from the higher floors but had brushed it off as it probably being an experiment gone wrong, had received orders to lock down the building. But as the doors closed and had begun crystallizing, which was the lock down measure that entailed the glass of the entrance door and windows of the entire building which were made of a special material to crystallize to the point that they were harder than diamonds and near-unbreakable, the twins charged at them, causing them don their HTB suits and draw their weapons.
"Fuck, what a strong net" Leng Shi and Lei Shi who had just gained clarity of their minds cursed and said as they saw their path of escape blocked. Stopping and turning to look behind them, they saw the Research Rector fully donned in her deadly Purple-colored Rank 6 HTB suit.
"I call dibs on the guards" said Leng Shi as he turned and charged at the guards.
"You piece of shit, I don't agree" shouted Lei Shi to Leng Shi.
"Too late" Leng Shi replied as he pulled out his gun and saber, shooting at the guards, charging into their midst.
"Damn it" cursed Lei Shi as he turned to face the dragon lady. Using all the energy at his disposal, he charged his gun to its peak, pointed it at the rapidly approaching Research Rector and yelled out at the top of his voice "WELL, IF I DON'T HIT HER, SHE WON'T DIE!"
Similarly, the dragon lady, I mean, the Research Rector pulled out her gun which looked like a megaphone whose nozzle, instead of getting wider from the handle, was uniform then it became constricted. She smiled coldly, pointed her gun at Lei Shi and charged it up.
As Lei Shi poured all the energy his HTB suit that he could into his gun, a ball of electricity condensed at its nozzle. Similarly, the Research Rector poured all her energy, the energy from a Rank 6 HTB suit's energy core, into her gun.
Her gun possessed a constricted nozzle, acoustic lenses, stabilizers, and was made of meta-materials; all which enabled it to produce, contain and shoot out focused sound waves. She seemed to want to not only offset his attack but to kill him in one shot.
After their attacks were fully charged, the Research Rector directly attacked because she noticed that Lei Shi refused to attack even though his attack was already ready to be shot, she didn't want to give room for any unforeseen events that'll lead to their escape or arrest by law enforcers. She wanted them dead.
BOOM the Research Rector fired at Lei Shi.
The shot was a sound wave bullet that was so powerful that it reached a frequency of over 1MHz.
Furthermore, the sound of the shot wasn't as loud as expected because the sound waves were compressed to an unprecedented level. The sound bullet was transparent and it was compressed to the point that it was near solid.
The bullet's speed was terrifying, but right as it was about hit Lei Shi, he dodged to the side.
*Swoosh*
The Research Rector was surprised at his choice to dodge, but she immediately started preparing another attack so as to block any of Lei Shi's counterattacks. But contrary to her expectations, Lei Shi turned, and with his back facing her, he looked in the direction of the dodged sound bullet.
HONG
Leng Shi and the other guards were also barely able to dodge the sound bullet, causing it to strike the harder-than-diamond glass entrance door. The door didn't break. However, it shook violently.
BANG
Without warning, Lei Shi's shot his attack, and a split second later, it struck the same spot on the harder-than-diamond glass entrance door which the Research Rector's sound wave bullet struck. The door trembled violently, seemingly on the brink of breaking.
"Aww, Come on. Even that wasn't enough?" said Leng Shi after he groaned in displeasure.
*Swoosh*
Suddenly, Leng Shi, using the full-strength of his Rank 4 HTB suit, threw his bone-chilling, absolute zero saber at the entrance door, at the same spot where the Research Rector and Lei Shi's attack had struck, the point where the stress was greatest.
At this point, the Research Rector understood their goal, and she extended her arm, about to dash and grab Lei Shi who was the one closer to her.
BOOM
Leng Shi's saber struck the entrance door, at its weakest point and it caused a mighty explosion which sent broken harder-than-diamond glass shards flying through the air. The shards were like bullets and they struck the guards who were the closest to the door.
Meanwhile, Leng Shi, who had ducked as soon as he threw the saber, narrowly dodged some shards and the full-force of the energy wave. Lei Shi, on the other hand, also ducked as soon as he saw Leng Shi take the posture of wanting to throw the saber, and that led to the Research Rector who was reaching for him to be blasted away by the shards and shock waves from the entrance door's explosion.
