Considering what Rolan had just said Anastasia had frozen, looking too the man who had an unsettling smile, a shiver was sent down her spine
"How wonderful, it seems my actions have not gone unnoticed, for you to know my name? My actions have been diligent, des!" The man twisted to the side, his back making an unnatural crack
"This guy-" Anastasia paused, looking to the man, all bystanders seemed to freeze, looking to the man with utter conviction, he was a murder, an insane bastard who massacred all in his way, for that was the witch cult, a group of lunatics who dedicated themselves to worshiping the Witch of Envy
But to her side stood a fuming man, his blue hair became unhinged, his eyes full of distaste and disgust, Rolan wanted revenge, "YOU…"
That was all the man muttered before a large blue spear formed in his hand, fire emanating off it, "ILL KILL YOU!" Now launching himself forward, the man had been surrounded by a thick layer of wind as he seamlessly broke through it
"Ah but how truly diligent to seek revenge for the one you love, but might I tell you that such diligence in no way compares to mine. Your diligence is filled with Sloth, for it is misdirected!" Betelgeuse now bending forward, an invisible force seemed to push Rolan back, as if pinned down the enraged man's legged was grabbed and thrown backward into Hoshin's residence, his whole body following in pursuit
"Rolan!" Anastasia was in completed disbelief, Rolan, who had just put forth his unbeatable offense was defeated in an instant
Anastasia looked to Subaru, who was not shocked, nor frightened, but ready, his eyes bearing determination
"Subaru-" But the raven-haired boy began to slowly walk forward, his eyes darted towards the Sin Archbishop
"Subaru, you're going to get hurt if you step anywhere near that guy!" Anastasia pleaded slightly with the boy, but his eyes did not shift
By now all bystanders had backed off, only a few daring to stay and watch as the boy walked untoward the archbishop with utter confidence
"Ah, how delightful, to see, even after your accomplice that had been defeated so easily, to see you walk and breathe, not taking a step back but to move forward, truly that is diligence!" The crazed man smiled, looking to the boy, who now stood roughly three meters away
"Sloth, Diligence…" The raven boy paused for a moment, "None of that means a thing to me" The boy smiled. Away from the conflict, Anastasia was worried, was the antic-filled boy really going to converse with this crazed murderer?!
"Ah but is that not Sloth itself? To not acknowledge such sin is truly slothful. Just who are you to say such things in front of such a loyal servant as myself, for I serve Satella, her love knowing no bounds!"
Subaru smiled, "Satella eh? What an ugly name!" Subaru quickly moved forward with his wording, "And serving a Witch? How much of a loser can you be?! Go on and decide your own fate!"
"HOW! HOW! HOW! HOW! HOW! HOW DARE YOU SO IGNORANTLY REFUSE HER LOVE, TO CLAIM DILIGENCE BUT TO SHOW UTTER SLOTH, TO GO AS FAR AS TO INSULT HER NAME! such heresy is unacceptable! DIE!"
But Subaru backed up in an instant, the multiple hands covered in an ominous purple and black clashing against each other at the location the raven covered boy previously had been
"YOU CAN SEE THEM, WHY CAN YOU SEE MY UNSEEN HANDS?!" The crazed man, Betelgeuse, was in utter shock as he lunged a few more hands towards Subaru
Subaru grew a cocky smile, "With a power that lame, no wonder you call it Unseen, you're probably self-conscious!" Subaru pointed at Betelgeuse as the rotten man began to rip out his hair
"TO DISREPSECT HER WONDERFUL, CARING, LOVING GIFT! SLOTH! SLOTH! SLOTH!" Betelgeuse now enraged through roughly fifty hands at the raven-haired youth, but it was in that moment, Subaru knew what to do.
Moving his right hand to his left side, Subaru placed his hand on a previously unnoticed hilt, in doing so a sharp aura began to emanate, and with the pristine sound of a metal cut unleashed, Natsuki Subaru revealed to the world, the Sword of Okusnai.
"Listen Omee, there are many things I could give you, but I can't give it all" Reid lifted his right finger to his side in a teaching tone
"I get that, can't exactly be overpowered at the very beginning?" Subaru replied eagerly
Reid smiled, "exactly" the sword-god paused for a moment before continuing, "in saying that, your gate isn't the largest right now omee, and using it would.. well, break it?"
The black-haired youth tilted his head, "Break my gate?"
"You don't know what a gate is.. do you omee?" Reid replied in a bored tone
"Yeah sorry" Subaru chuckled placing his hand on the back of his head
The red-themed man sighed before shaking his head, "Totally hopeless"
"Hehe" Subaru let out an embarrassed laugh
"Well, it can't be helped, Omee's brand new to this world after all" Clasping his hands together Reid would give his lesson on the dynamics of the world. The Sword Saint explained many things, the way in which gates worked, the physics of magic, the basic attributes of said magic, and finally divine protections.
"Wait so I have a yin affinity?!" asked the young-raven themed boy in awe
"That's right Omee, and these protections are going to boost that affinity" The lengthy but built man stated happily
That was right, Subaru had chosen the proper protections just right for him, even if he was a novice, he was confident in his skill, and with the Sword God himself, Reid, by his side. In no way was Subaru planning on losing.
Divine Protection Mana Accumulation alongside the Divine Protection of Swiftness, Natsuki Subaru moved forward, pushing the blade upright as he headed towards the Sin Archbishop
Now in proper view, Subaru had revealed the sword left by the Sword God. Said sword was a deep black with purple and silver outlines, the sword itself was a katana, around a meter in length, the hilt was a deep blue laced with silver outlines.
Continuously pushing it forward, Subaru had full ease as the sword cut through Betelgeuse unseen hands smoothly
"WHAT?! BUT TO PUSH THROUGH HER LOVE SO EASILY, WHO ARE YOU?! TO NOT JUST DISREGARD THE WITCH'S LOVE, BUT TO DENY IT TOO?!" The Sin Archbishop moved his body backward as he grabbed onto his hair, "MY BRAIN TREMBLES!"
Subaru continued through the barrage, violet to violet, Subaru had been managing quite well for his first fight. Now placing forth his first plan, he began to infuse mana into the sword titled Ryuk.
Subaru couldn't use magic, or at least to the extent he had wanted, his gate was just too small, but in saying that, the raven boy had workarounds. Using Ryuk as a host, Subaru would use his Divine Protection of Mana Accumulation, the very one he had acquired from Reid. Subaru would begin to absorb mana from the atmosphere from around him and transfer it into the sword, it was a slow but efficient build-up.
"What's this?!" Betelgeuse asked annoyed, "This tactic, this SLOTHFUL, UNREASONABLE, DEFIANT tactic" Betelgeuse's body motion stopped, but the multiple 'unseen' hand's continued inaction. "YOU ARE A APPRENTICE TO RIED!"
Subaru just smiled, the Sin Archbishop of Sloth had figured it out, and if he knew what move Subaru was to pull off, he would realize the disadvantage he was at.
Now having accumulated enough mana, a bright blinding light began to revolve around the midnight-colored blade, a light so bright even its holder Subaru had to close his eyes.
"YOU DARE!" Betelgeuse relayed his Unseen hand, bringing multiple to guard him, but that was not enough, every single one had been destroyed by the light, now with only few seconds before the archbishop could call upon more he would- Hurrrk
Impaled from the heart, Betelgeuse looked to the boy in astonishment, truly had his diligence failed him? But before he could reply, the disgusting man's vision was blurred by a crystal purple as he was encased in yin magic, instantly, the archbishop of sin shattered into a thousand tiny pieces.
Subaru slowed, looking down towards the man he had just killed, no the cultist. The Raven-haired youth wasn't sure what he should have been surprised by, the fact that he had just killed a man, or the fact that he had actually pulled his attack off.
Now turning his head behind him, Ana starred at Subaru in utter awe, her eyes aligning with his, a brief smile came from Subaru's mouth before… thump
Subaru fell to the ground as he began to lose consciousness, (this must be what I get for doing things so recklessly, sorry Reid, I was just tryna impress her)
Ana rushed over to Subaru, now her hands to his head, taking him from off the ground looking for any visible injuries, "H-hey Subaru, can ya hear me?!" The violet-haired girl called out, but her voice began to fade, Subaru was losing consciousness. "Hey, Subaru?!" She called out once again, her voice even more distant, (Man she's so cute when she's worried-)
"Subaru!"
