Chapter 2 - A

"You'll have to save my son, fairy doctor," the elderly lady beseeched and Reilola feigned a headache. She rubbed her temples and wondered if she should also rub her chin.

Day and night, they would come to her, all because she had been placed in the body of a 'fairy doctor' in this story mode.

She had two disciples, one girl and another boy. And she was tasked to take care of them and to ensure that they proceed with their romance character arcs as planned.

Basically, her character was a pretty lackadaisical one, which suited her just fine seeing as how she had elected for the 'easy mode' when she opted for this system play. She just didn't count on the fact that she would be bothered daily.

Pulling the cotton out of her ears, she nodded at the elderly lady and touched the young boy. Miraculosuly, his fever was healed and they bowed and thanked her.

As per usual, she plastered a genteel smile on her face and ushered them out wordlessly. Meanwhile, they started thanking the heavens and the earth for their miracle.

Reilola sighed and closed the door. Fraud. She felt like a fraud at times. However, she did have this 'magical touch', so it wasn't too far-fetched to call her a 'fairy doctor'. It was one way to support her lifestyle and to feed two growing kids a.k.a her two disciples.

"Mistress Rei, we've gathered the herbs. It's as you've mentioned, there are plenty of herbs at the back of this mountain!" her pretty and hardworking female disciple RoXie declared.

"Yes, but what about the detour I told you to make? To get the 'special item'?" Rei pressed on.

"We threw it," another voice uttered. It was Nickei. Her other disciple. Strangely upright, annoyingly so. He entered with his usual pristine outfit. He barely spoke less than five words each time. Reilolia breathed in and then out.

Calm down, he's just a block of ice. Nothing fazes you. Nothing except for the fact that he had thrown away the most valuable jade in this entire nation! She had read about it. And had purposely marked an 'X' to retrieve it.

Her hopes of opening a business and being a successful merchant were gone. She sighed and cried inwardly. Externally, to her disciples, however, Rei merely looked a little paler than usual.

She was an enigma to them and they often tried to decipher what their sacred 'fairy mistress' was saying but they could never quite figure out since she offen spoke in poetic lofty sentences that they couldn't quite comprehend.

This was not unlike other times.

"Is anything the matter, mentor?" Nickei asked innocently.

"Nothing," except for the fact that I wish to strangle you! She smiled through her teeth. Seething, she decided to barricade herself in her room when another commotion erupted and some people barged into their tiny clinic.

"Save us! Save us! You're a celestial being right? Save us from the mystical creature. Anyone who enters its vortex cannot head out! We have already lost two of our villagers!" they exclaimed. And came with pitchforks and swords. It was pretty obvious that this wasn't a request but a coercion.

Reilolia glanced at her two disciples, "It'll have to come eventually, it might as well be now."

"Ro...SA"

"It's Roxie, Mistress Rei," RoXie clarified and Rei's lips froze before she gave a dry laugh, "Well it's been two years since you've been under my tutelage. I think it's time for you to proceed on your first quest."

"Yes, Mistress Rei," Roxie acknowledged, "Nikei will accompany you."

"No, I won't." Nikei answered curtly.

"??" Reilola's eyes widened, "As your mentor mistress, I strongly encourage you to head on this journey with Roxie."

Nikei coolly eyed Rei and he ate the dumpling that was on the table without responding to her.

What is that supposed to mean??
