When she swung again, Arthas didn't dodge. He countered with his own Excalibur, the two slender blades clashing with a clear, ringing sound.
"Let's end the joke, Sword Empress. Attack again, and as a Gremory Pawn, I will kill you."
"You're a Gremory Pawn?!"
Irina paused, surprised, staring at him.
"You're that powerful Pawn? Your existence caused a direct angelic manifestation, prompting the Church to increase surveillance. The Angel said to kill you, this incredibly promising young devil, at any cost."
Xenovia said, her gaze turning predatory.
"Oh… I'm already that famous?"
Arthas was surprised. The Angels had manifested and specifically targeted him.
He ignored Xenovia's killing intent; she and Irina were too weak, far less powerful than Genshirou.
Their confidence stemmed solely from Excalibur's power, its overwhelming suppression of devils allowing them to defeat stronger opponents.
Against a monster like Genshirou, who wasn't afraid of, and even wielded, Excalibur, they would have been easily killed.
Arthas, however, had easily killed such a monster. Killing these two would be trivial.
Even now, he could freeze their blood with a thought, causing a gruesome death.
Xenovia didn't realize this, her gaze dangerous, ready to attack.
"Xenovia, calm down. Remember our mission."
Irina restrained her companion again; recovering Excalibur was paramount.
"I know."
Xenovia nodded, her gathered power dissipating.
"Gremory Pawn, I'm reluctant, but you're lucky."
"Naturally. I don't want to kill anyone in front of Asia, especially two delicate girls. So, you're lucky too."
Arthas retorted, infuriating Xenovia.
That arrogant guy… he dares underestimate me. Does he think I won't kill him? Headquarters said, in extreme cases, even a Satan King's sister can be killed.
Xenovia thought coldly. Arthas would probably laugh at her naiveté; there were so many foolish and naive people in the world.
"In that case, please introduce us tomorrow. We need to discuss this with the Gremory heiress."
Xenovia said. Arthas nodded, and the two girls went to rest in the back room.
Arthas chuckled at their casual appropriation of the church. It wasn't unreasonable; if not for them, it would belong to him and Asia, two devils.
The night passed uneventfully.
The next day after school, the Occult Research Club gathered in their room.
Rias sat opposite Xenovia and Irina, her expression serious. This meeting was important, a discussion between the Church and the devils.
The other familiars stood respectfully behind her. Akeno and Koneko looked serious, understanding the gravity of the situation; Asia looked confused.
"Yuuto…" A soft voice silenced Yuuto's anger.
"Sorry, President." Yuuto bowed his head.
"I understand your feelings, but please restrain yourself for now."
Rias, knowing the source of Yuuto's anger, spoke earnestly. Arthas was curious.
Rias had mentioned Yuuto's connection to the Church and his becoming a devil, but he didn't know the details.
"I'm Xenovia, and this is my partner, Irina Shido."
Xenovia broke the awkward silence, introducing themselves coldly.
"Why did the Church suddenly contact us?" Though Arthas had explained the situation, formalities were necessary. Rias represented the devils and couldn't appear weak.
"Several days ago, all the Excaliburs held by the Vatican and various Protestant and Orthodox Churches were stolen." Xenovia revealed the shocking news.
"Good riddance. Such things shouldn't exist." Yuuto said coldly from behind.
Xenovia glanced at him; she'd sensed his intense hatred towards her and Irina.
"Even if stolen, what does the theft of Excalibur have to do with this remote island nation?" Rias asked casually, redirecting Xenovia's attention.
"The Vatican had two, the Protestants two, and the Orthodox Church two. One disappeared during the great war between God, devils, and Fallen Angels.
Since then, everyone has been vying for Excalibur. The thief fled to Japan." Xenovia explained their presence angrily.
"More trouble. Do you know who stole them?" Rias sighed.
"The Fallen Angels undoubtedly stole them and are using them for some experiment." Xenovia said worriedly.
