After the two girls washed and changed into the church's nun habits, the four of them sat down in the hall again.
Xenovia Quarta and Irina Shido each held a cup of tea freshly brewed by Asia, warming themselves contentedly.
"Ahhh… finally revived. Almost froze to death."
Irina, eyes half-closed, sighed happily. Xenovia, however, scowled at Arthas again.
It's just because I saw wet. Do you really need to look so resentful?
Arthas rubbed his nose helplessly. An awkward silence fell over the four of them.
"Sword Empresses, what brings you to our humble church on such a night?"
Arthas finally broke the silence. Xenovia couldn't contain herself any longer.
"Hmph! You're a Fallen Angel pawn! You killed Father Freed and took advantage of this nun, didn't you?!"
Xenovia sneered, unwrapping the large object beside her, revealing a massive longsword: Excalibur·Destruction.
"Xenovia, calm down! I said we haven't figured things out yet!" Irina, seeing her partner draw her weapon, anxiously produced her own Excalibur.
It was a ribbon-like object that transformed into a katana in Irina's hand: Excalibur·Mimic, a shape-shifting Excalibur.
"Oh, what proof do you have that I killed Father Freed and 'took advantage' of her?" Arthas chuckled, pulling Asia closer, who was visibly nervous.
Feigning innocence was crucial; only he and Asia knew about Freed's death. Asia wouldn't speak, and neither would he. They'd never know the truth.
"Don't try to hide it. If you didn't do it, why were you here? Why is this nun so afraid of you? And why do you have Excalibur?" Xenovia said coldly.
"I told you, I don't know about Excalibur. I found it. As for why Asia listens to me, it's because I'm her boyfriend."
Arthas said confidently, holding Asia, who lowered her head, blushing even deeper.
"Is that true, Sister Asia?"
Xenovia eyed Arthas skeptically. Asia, flustered, looked up.
"Y-yes… that's… that's right… um…"
"Fine, I'll believe you're not with the Fallen Angels for now."
Asia's reaction was too obvious—a lovestruck fool. Xenovia said grudgingly, rewrapping Excalibur and sitting down. Irina also relaxed and sat down.
"See? Xenovia-chan, don't get so worked up! Let's get the facts straight."
Irina, seeing the tension ease, sheathed her Excalibur, relieved.
"Despite that, explain how you obtained Excalibur. It's crucial for Irina and me." Xenovia, regaining her composure, asked.
"Well… one day, I saw a devil using this weapon to kill a priest, so I killed the devil and took it."
Arthas said, then seemed to remember something.
"Oh, right, that priest… was Father Freed, I think."
"You're joking! Devils can't touch Excalibur!" Xenovia looked disbelieving; Irina mirrored her expression.
"Who says devils can't touch Excalibur? I'm a devil." Arthas smirked.
"That's not funny. You can't be a devil." Irina laughed, looking at Excalibur in Arthas's hand.
Excalibur was poison to devils; mere proximity would cause harm. How could a devil wield it?
"Don't believe me? Then I'll have to offer some proof." Arthas shrugged, and a profoundly wicked aura emanated from him.
It was the power of Original Sin, but it worked as a convincing devilish aura.
He only needed to convince them that he, the wielder of Excalibur, was an evil devil.
"Believe me now?"
Arthas smiled, watching the two girls' expressions shift to alarm.
Though unbelievable, the overwhelmingly evil aura was undeniably demonic. The truth was absurd: a devil holding Excalibur unharmed.
"Merciful Lord, what is happening? Why is this devil unaffected by Excalibur's light?"
"It must be because, even though Mr. Arthas has become a devil, his devout faith remains, protecting him from Excalibur." Irina said earnestly, her hands clasped together in reverence.
"Our Lord is merciful. Even if the body falls, if the heart and soul remain pure, one is still a believer."
What is going on? Why are you crying? Is this really necessary? Arthas thought, watching Irina pray and weep.
"I've decided, Mr. Arthas. You must be suffering. Your devout heart is imprisoned in a devilish body, seeking redemption without release." Irina, tearful, raised her sword.
"Let me, let my Excalibur, free you by destroying this defiled body."
"Wait, wait, wait… what are you doing?" Arthas, startled, pulled Asia away just as Irina's blade shattered the bench they'd been sitting on.
"Mr. Arthas, you must be suffering. Don't worry, it'll be over soon." The weeping girl, tears blurring her vision, looked at Arthas, whose face twitched.
