Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 Awakening the Lord's Talent

"Just in time to bring some wine to sell, I'm going to label them as rare treasures, even though they are, and with the bizarre stories, they'll sell absolutely well."

"Like the dragon's treasure?" Ashina seemed to understand.

Feld snapped his fingers, "That's right, Ashena, even if it's a boot, picking that up in a dragon's grotto is still a boot for a gargoyle's keeper."

"And we don't count that as a lie, those fine wines are indeed guarded by powerful corrupted creatures, though the corrupted creatures have no interest in wine." Ashena covered her mouth and couldn't stop laughing.

"There's no rush on that carpentry work, first clean up all the trash from the big winery, the rotting equipment as well as the rocks from the collapse, all of them will be taken out from inside and cleaned up, I expect to work for three days, and after that, I'll reward each of you with 20 copper coins."

"My lord, you are truly generous!"

Fielder's generosity was already the consensus of everyone in the territory, outside of the Night Curtain Territory, even if a freeman worked for a month, he might not be able to get 20 copper coins.

To Fielder, those coins that were spread out would soon return to his own pockets, it was nothing at all.

He even couldn't wait for the slaves to quickly become free folk, because free folk were the ones who were qualified to marry and have children, and likewise, free folk needed to fulfill many important duties, such as paying taxes.

Just as he was thinking about it, Feld felt an invisible power surge into his body.

There was no increase in power, but he immediately noticed the difference; he advanced to a First Order Lord!

As a matter of fact, signing a contract with a Chosen of God gave one the possibility of becoming a Lord.

Felder originally possessed the Lord talent, and it was all a matter of course.

In this world, not only were there only transcendent knights, magicians, or divine Chosen, lords could also possess ranks.

But there wasn't much killing power is all.

Lords can see the general condition of their territory.

Name: Feld

Profession: Lord

Territory: Starry Night Tavern and nearby farmland

Signed Chosen One: Ashena

Population: 217

Development Level: 1 (Nothing)

Happiness: -32 (Lost and depressed)

Environmental Value: -89 (full of corruption, uninhabitable)

Probability of Chosen One appearing: 1 in 100 billion

Lord's Talent: Small Map (can detect surrounding creatures, exclusive talent), Panel (visualize creature properties, exclusive talent)

Field of Prosperity (disperses the fog of death within the territory, speeds up the melting of the effects of decay)

Chosen One Additional Talent: Beast Taming (within territory, easier to breed beasts for war, courtesy of Ashena)

Enthronement (advance 50 wolf riders to 1st rank, provided by Ashena)

Feld's eyes lit up, and it was hard to suppress the upturned corners of his mouth as he laughed freely.

"What are you laughing at, my lord?" Ashina scratched her head with a curious expression.

"Nothing, I thought of something funny."

Feld had someone put out the territory's fog repelling lights, which startled the crowd, thinking that Feld couldn't think straight.

"Well, not to scare you guys." Spreading his hands, Fields laughed, "I've already mastered the Lord's Talent, and without using the fog repelling lamps, I can guarantee that the territory won't be eroded by corruption."

The crowd was skeptical, but they didn't dare to refute, until Fields extinguished the fog repelling lamp and the fog didn't penetrate the slightest bit, then the crowd relaxed.

Immediately followed by ecstasy, almost everyone fell into a pleasant celebration.

After all, the fog repelling lights could only last for about a month, and as long as the lord didn't have the money to buy them from the church, they would die at any time.

But with the lord's fog repelling ability, they were truly putting a nail in the Nightfall Collar.

"Extra meal tonight, everyone gets a share of broth as well as two loaves of bread." Felder announced in a high tone.

Saving one fog repellent light was 25 gold coins, and this wave of blood earned two hundred and fifty thousand black breads.

"Hooray!"

The crowd cheered.

Maid Shearer shouted with her loud staccato voice, "This is great news, no wonder I had a dream last night that my grandmother was smiling at me. Lord Fielder, you are truly a born aristocrat with the blood of a lord flowing in your veins."

Fielder was embarrassed by the compliment, and immediately said to Cao, "For my maids and maidservants, as well as the cook, add a honey cake."

"Good heavens, milord! We don't have much honey cake!" Still maintaining his penchant for offending people, Caor exclaimed, "The maids can just eat the leftovers from you and Lord Ashina, that's already the best food in the entire territory, there's no need for extra food."

"Squeak squeak squeak~" Scissors' teeth were about to be crunched, itching to immediately pounce and claw Caor's face off.

Maid Sparrow, who had never been a talker, was also furious.

"Alright, it's rare for everyone to be happy, Scissors, why are you still standing around, go to the storeroom and divide the cake for everyone." Feld never begrudged the flies.

"Long live Lord Lord!" The two maids with a sweet tooth cheered loudly, happy as two finches, jumping and running to the storeroom.

Caor, on the other hand, sighed and silently took stock of the territory's supplies.

To the southeast of the Northern Province, was the Morning Wind Province where Feld's cheap father was located, and to the southwest, was the High Castle Province, and to the north of the Northern Province, was the homeland of the orcs.

Feld decided to make a trip to the High Castle province, a province with five earl collars and mostly mountainous terrain.

Sitting in front of a wooden table, the creaking and broken windows made him frown slightly, Feld did his best to keep his inner peace as he carefully opened a book called "Gray Mist and Death", a book worth up to 10 silver coins, written by Lucas, a famous scholar and explorer of the empire.

"Twin Calendar, September 1, 147 years. Today should have been a day of awakening for the nation to celebrate, but for the future of the Empire, I, Lucas! have resolutely entered, the forsaken and cursed land, the Northern Province. Luckily, I wasn't the only one who entered it, I was accompanied by two divine Chosen of the Imperial Family, as well as fallen noble Darren and his divine Chosen daughter."

From the plate in front of him, Felder leisurely pinched a piece of cut apple and dropped it into his mouth to chew.

The sweet juice tingled the taste buds, and Feld's spirits lifted as he continued to read.

"With the company of three stunning beauties, this trip will surely be full of fun, and although the royal divine choices are all horrible fifth-ranked, it doesn't stop me from overdoing it. The three outlying baronies of the Northern Realm, the Cloud Curtain, Night Curtain, and Morning Curtain, were all great places filled with fine wine and beautiful women when I visited them in my youth. Nowadays, they are riddled with corruption, one of which frequently attacks us, ugly-looking batgirls, who I think are all women of the wind corrupted, on the grounds that they still have exclusive tattoos and jewelry remaining on their limbs. My guard, Steel Fork, caught Batgirl to try the depths, what a brave, fearless and exploratory fellow! May the Goddess bless him."

"Pfft~"
