Seeing this information, Neuman now knew why they didn't even react when he approached them previously.
"If they can't see or detect any other human, why were the man and the girl so anxious to return when these mice attacked?"
"Are there more of these kinds of mice?"
"There must be, and from the looks of it, these mice are only around 1 to 5 levels, and I haven't even met a level 2 corpse-eating mouse."
He then looked around and found that there weren't that many corpse-eating mice remaining, as the dead bodies around here were already eaten. After killing the remaining mice, he started to walk in the direction where the burly man had previously left.
He had to follow them since he didn't even have food to eat, and he didn't want to sleep hungry in such an environment where he had to use his energy again and again.
After he had walked for around ten minutes and killed another dozen mice, he looked ahead and saw a wolf carcass. This corpse was quite bigger than the previous one and looking carefully, he found that there were around ten mice who were gnawing on the corpse. Seeing this, he came near the wolf body and thought of killing the mice before leaving.
He didn't know how many corpse-eating mice he had killed and how much EXP he had gained, nor did the window show that, so he just continued on killing these mice, thinking that this may be useful later on.
He quietly approached the mice; he was still careful, as any mistake may cause damage to him if he wasn't careful. He quietly took out his dagger and walked behind a mouse who was at the end and was eating the leg of the wolf while others were eating the upper parts.
Swish...
After using the dagger so many times, he became quite experienced in using the dagger and pierced the dagger into the mouse's head, killing it instantly.
[Corpse-eating Mouse (Level 3) killed]
[+3 exp]
'Huh?'
Neuman again examined the body of the dead mouse, which was stuck on the dagger and didn't notice much difference from the previous rats he had killed, but this one was a level 3 and gave 2 extra experience points than before.
'So the level determines the amount of XP I gain. But what is the use of XP anyway?
Ignoring the notifications, he then turned his attention to the remaining mice. Just as he killed one mouse, ten others came towards the dead body of the wolf and they too started eating it.
Neuman quietly killed all of those mice, and the notification quite surprised him. Among the group, two of the mice were level 5, five of them were level 4 and the remaining ones were level 3. The level 5 mice gave him 5 exp each and the level 4 ones gave 4.

[Their only instinct is devouring dead bodies, the more they eat, the faster they grow.]
Another new point was now added that told him about the situation. Neuman was quite surprised previously, as he continuously killed those mice, none of them seemed to notice his existence and were focused on eating, and now he knew the reason he became calmer.
"At least I won't get ambushed by them suddenly; still, I have to be careful of other beasts here."
He then continued on his way to return to the humans.
On the way he killed another round of mice, it was then a notification suddenly popped in front of him.

Neuman became surprised looking at the status window in front of him, after carefully reading everything, he turned his attention to his stats information. He didn't know whether they were good enough for fighting, but from the looks of it, they aren't, but what made his mood drop was his magic, which was negligible.
"What's with the 0.1 magic?"
"Is it like this only or is this with me only?"
Then, thinking for some time, he came to the conclusion that even if he had magic, he couldn't use it since he didn't even have any skills for work.
He then saw his level and noticed that it was currently 0. After comprehending everything he saw, he then came to the conclusion that as he increased his level, he would gain more stats and maybe skill points too.
As for META, he didn't know what that meant, and even if he knew, he would have to be level 5 for that.
After pondering over this for a while, he continued his journey back to the camp.
As he was moving through the city, he found out that there were some structures still intact to some extent. Then he thought of checking something useful in the ruins but gave up on that idea, since the people have already cleaned up the area they must have taken everything that is usable.
The city was quite big, and while moving through the city, he coincidentally found some people, soldiers, fighting some beasts.
When Neuman took a closer look, he found that these beasts were none other than the mouse he previously killed, but there was a big difference between the mouse he killed and the mouse the soldiers were fighting against.
The mice Neuman previously killed were around the size of his fist, while the mouse these people are fighting reached his knees, and they were quite fast. Neuman could still follow their movements.
These mice had very sharp and long nails, even their teeth protruded out of their mouths and looked quite ferocious. They had long, rope-like tails that got dragged with them wherever they ran.
Looking at the lineup, there were around ten soldiers fighting twenty or so mice. The claws of the mouse were unable to pierce the armor of the soldiers but were making them unable to move around. One sword swing from the soldier basically killed one of the mice.
But as the number of mice was quite high and their speed, they were basically able to avoid these swords and, in turn, made scratches on the armor. There were even soldiers whose armor was on the verge of being pierced.
Looking at the fight in front of him, Neuman started to calculate slowly. He and the soldiers had the same armor with some slight differences.
