It was nighttime, and Neuman was looking straight ahead with sleepy eyes. After eating dinner, he thought of searching for an empty tent to sleep in, and when he asked around, he was told to go to the registrar to ask for an empty tent. When Neuman asked the registrar about this, he told him that today was his nighttime duty.
The registrar didn't know Neuman and seeing that he was uninjured, he sent him to guard the camp.
Now he was here, checking for any rat that might sneak into the camp but he was clearly exhausted. He had been roaming around this city since afternoon and fighting the rats; now he had to guard at night too.
He had to guard for around 6 hours, then he will not have any overdue duty.
Suddenly he started to hear some scratching sounds. Hearing those sounds, Neuman became alert and looked around warily. Currently, other soldiers who were with him had gone for a round and he was alone there.
Neuman spotted various pairs of glowing eyes emerging from the darkness, slowly approaching him. Realizing that the rats had arrived near him, he swiftly positioned himself for battle.
He had been warned that the rats could see in the dark, making night the perfect time to attack the camp. They usually attack in groups; around four or five attack first, and then others around them attack altogether.
Looking ahead, Neuman spotted around ten to twenty rats in front of him. He then slowly stepped back so that the light of the torches around could make the area more visible.
Seeing Neuman ahead of them slowly step back, the rats slowly came to a stop and looked around first; then suddenly one of the rats shrieked and started to run towards him.

Before the rat could even come near Neuman, it was pinned to the ground, and a notification popped in front of him, making him smile. Slowly, his gaze turned to the remaining rats. He put his foot against the rat's body to keep it in place. Gripping the other end of the spear, he pulled it back.
Seeing the rat pinned on the ground suddenly by the spear, the rats stopped suddenly in their tracks, but when they saw Neuman pulling the spear back, some of the rats shrieked and ran away, while five rats charged at him.
Neuman smiled, seeing the rats running back. If there were too many rats, fighting them alone would become more difficult, since this spear wasn't an effective weapon against these small rats. He can kill the rat in one thrust, but the body will be pinned on the spear, like the first one.
On the other hand, swinging the spear, he could at most only injure the rats, not enough to kill them in one shot, since the sharp edge of the spear wasn't long enough, only around the size of a palm.
Neuman then threw the spear in his hand at the first rat that charged at him, pinning that rat to the ground and instantly killing it. Before he could take another breath, another rat lunged at him from the left.
Without hesitation, Neuman simply took out a dagger attached to his waist and thrust it straight at the mouse that jumped at him.
The dagger pierced the rat's head and killed it instantly. Another rat who was near the rat lunged at Neuman and bit his hand, but because Neuman was wearing armor, the teeth were unable to cause any harm to him. Neuman instantly attacked the rat, biting his arm, and did the same to the rat, piercing its head with the dagger.
The last remaining rat came running towards him, and just as it came near to him, Neuman simply kicked the rat and threw it a little away and took the pinned spear and simply thrust the spear at the thrown rat, killing it too.

Seeing that he had reached level 5, he ignored all the notifications and looked behind him and saw two soldiers running towards him.
Once they came near him, they looked at the corpses on the ground, and one of the soldiers said, "We heard some commotion and came here in a hurry." Then he pointed at the corpses on the ground and asked, "Were there only these?"
Neuman shook his head and said, "No, there were more of them but they ran when they saw me and only some of them attacked me."
Hearing this, the soldier just nodded and said, "From now on, we will guard in groups; who knows when they might attack in a big group?"

After looking around for some time, they didn't find any more rats and continued to roam around the same area. Neuman just stood in his position and looked in a certain direction, looking like he was watching that area, but in reality he was just looking at the notifications.
