Juniper's POV
I had learned a long time ago that humiliation was most effective when the person responsible for it expected you to react.
Orion had expected me to storm out of the conference hall, demand an explanation, or confront him in front of everyone. He had probably imagined me standing there with my face burning while he smiled for the cameras, basking in the satisfaction of reminding me that he still had the power to make me look insignificant.
Unfortunately for him, I had no intention of giving him that satisfaction. I remained in my seat until the end of the presentation, taking notes even when Orion repeated information I had already studied the previous night. His delivery was polished, his smile effortless, and his confidence almost admirable. He knew how to hold a room, how to make wealthy investors feel as though they were being invited into something extraordinary, and how to avoid answering questions he did not want to address.
