The first thing I saw when I opened my laptop on Saturday morning was an email from Callie.
She had sent the documents she promised the previous evening, along with a brief summary of the discrepancies she had discovered in Keller Real Estate Holdings' financial projections. I read through her message twice before opening the attachments, hoping I had misunderstood something.
I hadn't.
The revised construction estimates were higher than the figures Orion had presented at the conference, and the difference could not be explained entirely by changes in material costs. Several projected expenses had increased significantly within a short period, yet the supporting documents offered little explanation for the adjustments.
I opened the approval records and checked the dates. The revisions had been authorized by the executive office three days before the conference.
Orion's office.
