She slowly counted each tube. Her fingers moved over each one as she crossed them off the list. "Fifteen, sixteen, seventeen. Seventeen stolen powers." She stood up, this place wasn't the same as before. Last time people just lost their souls and were husks. This time they were empty shells. This place was made to harness and rearrange powers for one person. Her eyes fixated on one last tube.
The boy in the tube hung suspended, his skin ever changing to the shimmering water colors, never staying the same for but a moment. His white button up shirt and red tie had him pop out of the tanks and the others looks.
"He has to be freshly captured!" Angel sprinted over as she raised her spear. "Codename: Chameleon. Power: Magic. Harnessed magic inside of a construction he made. This golden gauntlet that weighs a significant amount was not able to be removed during the fight, constructs were made in several elements as he used high density energy pods of the elements. They are unstable and should be monitored for implosion."
She kept reading the report. "Transfer date. Eleven Eleven. Eight PM. Bane is set to receive the powers and forcefully take the gauntlet as well as learn the last lead he needs to snuff out the two remaining hybrid threats that remain at large." Angel looked at her phone. It was today, her spear twirled in her right hand as she smashed it against the glass.
It fell to the ground like a snowy slush. Angel caught the kid inside of the tube. "I have you. You are safe!" She felt him go limp in her arms as she sliced the tubing off of him. She set her spear to the side as she looked at the nearest clock. They would be here in the matter of an hour. This is the big secret of the facility. Is Bane's power, and how he has become the strongest of all of the hunters.
"Why, just why did they have to hurt you." She held him close as a soft yellow glow surrounded him. She looked at him as her stacks were vibrating. She slid them from one stack to another. Lifting the boy up with her one arm she stood effortlessly. "Stay with me little one." She kicked up her spear with her foot and caught it. She can't battle them and win. Even if she had the new help and her ability.
She stormed forward as she looked down. The small child lifted his left arm. With a snap of his fingers. He used the last bit of his aura and turned both of them invisible. At the end of the hallway stood the towering figure Bane, with Charlie on his right and Auroura on his left. "This is a one way hallway, how did someone slip by you and why were you not on high alert when the man returned!" Bane screeched at the guards in the doorway.
"We saw no one!" They stood shaking as Bane shrugged them off and stormed down the hallway. Angel flapped her wings and lifted above him as he charged forward to the test tubes. The two guards looked back as Bane stood in the doorway.
"HAS ANYONE LEFT THE AREA! THERE IS ONE WAY IN AND OUT OF THIS FUCKING BASEMENT AND IF YOU COST ME ON THE CHANCE TO KILL THE TWO TWINS I WILL FEED YOU TO THE RABID BEASTS THEMSELVES!" Bane looked down the hallway.
"No one has passed us sir!" The one on the left squirmed in his suit. Full black body armor still wouldn't protect him. "You guys have been the first two to pass by. We didn't even hear the door open until now!" The guard dropped down to his hands and knees. "Just don't kill us, we swear we haven't seen anyone."
Angel's feathers stood high as she landed back on the ground without a sound. She set her spear on her side as it shrunk down without a sound. Charlie's ears twitched. "They are telling the truth Bane, unfortunately." He looked down the hallway and whistled as he saw the echolocation and outline of Angel and the kid. "SWING TO YOUR LEFT THEY ARE STILL HERE!" Bane swung as hard as possible into the wall as Angel dived forward.
One of the stacks shaked violently as she moved them over to them. Feeling faster than ever she spread her wings, taking up the hallway as Charlie whistled and saw a wall. "I can't see them anymore!" Charlie shouted as Bane growled. Charging at the doorway.
Angel grabbed the kid with both her arms. Beating her wings forward she slammed through the doorway. Blowing back all four as she landed on the wall with her feet. Her wings still flapping on all cylinders. "ITS THE TWINS, THEY HAVE TO BE BOTH HERE. JACKPOT!" Bane charged directly to the wall as he closed the gap. His face mere inches from Angel.
But she remained too fast. She remained light on her feet as she brushed Bane with her wings. The invisibility peeled off her. Angel's back faced them as she went down the hallway with a sonic boom. Keeping them down as she flew around the hallways banking each corner and made it to the ground floor before they knew.
"So that's the final boss, didn't the government almost have them last time?" Bane smiled. "Weird if its just the one. Usually they travel as a team of two. Means the government hunters did do something. Awaken them and their powers. Or maybe they killed the one." Bane shrugged as Charlie and Auroura got up off the ground. "There will be time to kill them yet." He grew a larger grin on his face as he helped the guards up. "Sorry for being so hostile, losing that one is bad for our chances to end the hybrids. I can sink their island with his ability."
"No worries sir, you weren't serious about killing us, right?" The guards chuckled as Bane nodded.
"Never would I kill a human in cold blood for losing something of mine." Bane walked down the hallway as Charlie and Auroura followed him. "Sorry for the misunderstanding." He pulled out his phone. "Everyone at the facility, make this a bird cage! Electro nets!" Bane put his phone away as he cackled. "She won't escape."
Angel stood outside on top of one of the roofs as she saw a field of electricity fill the sky supported on brackets she could no longer escape through the sky as her head panned around. Helicopters were waiting on the other side overcasting the facility. She took a deep breath as she put her thumb up. "Where are you bending the most?" Her eyes gleamed over the electrified web.
"Found it." She grabbed her spear as she set the kid on the ground. "Fire away!" She heaved her spear at the joint she aimed at as the buckle holding it together broke within the one strike. Her spear kept sailing forward as she picked the kid off the roof with both hands. Using all her speed to dodge the falling electrical field. Clearing the gap she made herself while shimmering in the moonlight. Her silhouette casted onto the moon as Bane saw her escape.
Within the blink of an eye she was gone. Bane curled his hands into fists as he smashed his hands on the ground. "The secret of this facility and the true reason cannot get out. We must work on being ready to turn it to a correct thing." Bane stood tall.
Angel caught her spear in the air as the helicopters lost her. She cut through the air like a riptide. The winds roared as she sliced through the air. Landing in a clearing as she took a breath. Looking down, the kid was breathing as she relaxed. She looked at her phone and stayed low to the ground on the rest of her fight on the way to home.
