Chapter 317 - Adventure of Astral Part 60.?: Intervention

She looked across the horizon as a wave of cold air washed over the valley. Something else intimidating was hiding here, it wasn't just what was discovered at the facility. A deeper evil lurked in the chaos of the shadows. Angel shivered as her wings spanned open. Her shadow struck over the facility as she eyed it carefully. It was not a part of her plans and the others to have the facility be active once again.

"I will not let this stand and let them test on us like labrats." Angel stood as she stabbed her spear into the ground. She waited for it to become the right moment as her eyes read everything like a book. The walls lining the facility as a hard cover, the corridors the paragraphs of passages.

Angel clutched her spear as she saw some men on the outer wall point at her. They went into full panic. She turned sharply behind her as the wind blew. It wasn't just her standing there. 'Jets will be here soon, what are the odds they have a force field over the top?' She grabbed her spear as she dove off the cliff and glided straight to the facility on the top side.

She led with her spear as there was no barrier in front of the wall to stop her. She turned back to the cliff as a tiny white orb floated where she stood. Landing on a rooftop. She paused for just a moment as confusion overtook her entire body. Glancing up the orb was gone. 'Was that my dad?' She held herself in reserve as sirens wailed behind her. No doubt because of her presence.

"If it was supposed to be wrecked, why has it been rebuilt?" Angel hopped down to the ground with one smooth fall. The staff on the ground treated her as but a spectator as they were panicking on a power surge that hit their reactor. Something shouted through the sound system.

"All forces be on high alert. He is back!" The sound system erupted with the alert as the crew and the staff from all around the station rushed into action. Angel felt lucky as she went the opposite way. Directly into the facility that has brutally taken so many hybrid lives.

She wandered into the central building and sprinted down each hall. Empty rooms of barracks and bunks. A giant dining room, bathrooms, but nothing for her to dig into until after she went up the stairs to the top floor of the facility. A latched hatch was the only thing in her way as she opened it to find a room made of glass. Three people stared into computer screens that all were replaying footage of sorts. None of them noticed her until she walked over to the two that were next to each other.

"So first, there is the woman, and she vanishes before our eyes. Really? Then just a pure white orb is in her place? What type of Aura Ability is that?" The one on the left spoke, his brown hair shielded him from the glaring Angel.

"No clue, but watch the next part closely, another person comes along and grabs it in his left hand. It looks to be encrusted in some sort of golden glove? Maybe a gauntlet? Hard to say. Every angle and image we have is distorted." The right man smoothly whispered. "We could be looking at the one who took the facility the first time. But he acted differently last time. Now he is just standing there."

"Last time he hid himself from every active security measure, almost like this time he is just a giant distraction." Angel blurted out as the two men nodded their heads before freezing in place. They slowly turned and looked up to her. "Shit."

"Wait, you are the same lady as before!" The man on the left looked back between a monitor and her. Her wings becoming visible to him as he kept glancing back and forth. "How? What, my eyes are tricking me. Your wings weren't in the pictures!"

"It could just be some standard invisibility ability that she can use to cloak certain parts of her body. Wait, you know of the original version of this facility and its uses. And still came here as a hybrid?" The blonde hair man shook his head. "What a foolish little girl." He reached under the desk and grabbed a taser as she snapped her hand across his face. The snapping of his neck was the only thing heard as she gained one singular stack of a mysterious thing hovering in front of her face.

"Woah." The brown haired man rolled backwards and away from her.

"All I came here to do was explore the ruins of this archaic place. And yet when I arrive it is once again. Working?" Angel turned to the man who rolled away. "Why?" She snarled as she held her spear pointed at the man as she slid her one stack into a pile of others. Waiting to be used, she slid them all into one category. Her aura flared to life in front of all of them as she held firm.

"Well, the hybrids were on the hyper aggressive, something stirred them to life once again and we don't have any involvement on what happens on the lower levels. That half of the facility was fully intact when it was destroyed the first time." The man clung to the chair as Angel approached with her spear. Inching it closer to his neck.

"You humans disgust me." Angel slid his spear to his shoulder as he froze in place.

"Miss, can you keep at least two of us alive. I have shut down the security cameras all the way down to the bunker basement level. You want to see the results of what happens to your kind. Right?" The third man with a snow white beard and silver gray hair on his head turned around. He held a keycard in his hand as he flicked it over to Angel who caught it in her left hand between two fingers.

"I can't promise you that you will be safe on the way down or the way out. But I really don't want to train a new kid. Spare him and just leave us. The back side of the keycard is a map. Just press the black dot and it will holographically project upwards." He waved her away with his hand as she stood quietly in one place.

With a quiet nod she went to the latch and hopped down once again. Her path was set up in front of her. She followed the fastest way to the basement as the security guards stationed never saw her. Something was protecting her as she ran through the compound even further down.

She reached the basement, swiping the keycard. The door creaked open as she slid through it. Test tubes of various hybrids held extended from the liquid filling. Preserving their bodies and encased in an ooze. Angel's body went on full alert as her feathers preened to peak points. "This feels dangerous." She looked all the way around and tapped her side. Grabbing a small device she pulled out a tiny phone and began to record everything she saw.

"Codename: Bison. Power: Damage Deflection. A savage beast who was nearly impossible to take in. His ability and strength overwhelmed everyone besides Bane. Bane subdued the beast and claimed the power for himself." Angel felt her heart sink as she saw the burly man in the tube. Gray skin, gray hair, gray horns, devoid of color and soul.

She went to the next tank. "Codename: Blossom. Power: Enhanced Perception. Such an agile and quick fighter. Her bunny legs allowed her to move faster than nearly everyone. Or so she thought. A trap set for her by Bane and his left hand lady Auroura. Auroura claimed this ability for herself to help Bane capture more crazy rabid animals." Angel read the report aloud as every hair on her body stood on its ends.

"Codename: Kilowatt. Power: Electrical Field Manipulation. Kilowatt trapped several innocent humans by a river. Bane came to save the day with the help of his sniper and right hand man. Charlie. What a shocking trio those three make to slay the beasts." Angel fell to the ground in defeat as she looked around.
