Chapter 7 - Exploration

Further and further, I went into the unknown, I don't know how far I went nor how far I went. All I could see was pitch black around me. I could feel myself being consumed by darkness surrounding me and I couldn't see a damn thing.

Although I could still feel my surroundings thanks to {Demonic Instinct}. I can feel the walls and floor of the cave which was extremely large and spacious.

Being unable to see really can stress you out. It makes you uneasy and uncomfortable. To all the blind people out there, I now know exactly how you feel, or at least I can understand even the slightest amount of pain you went through.

You all have my absolute respect, and I applaud you for overcoming this difficulty. Your courage and your bravery are admirable. I'm sure you're doing great things despite the obstacles in front of you.

I just stared into the darkness in front of me. How in the actual hell am I going to save that girl if I don't even know where I am? I've lost track of that door. How the fuck am I supposed to find her like this?

I slammed my fist into the ground and groaned angrily. All I could do was to continue moving forward. However, the journey ahead will definitely be dangerous. There's no doubt about that.

"Haaah....." Frustrated, I let out a heavy sigh, I really wanted to punch something. I'm starting to hate this place so much.

I continued to stare at the darkness in front of me for what seemed like hours to me, but in reality was just a few minutes. I sat on the ground and tried to calm my nerves down. I needed to focus, if I lost my mind here, then I might as well die. I had to think clearly and act smartly.

─Dark Vision has reached level 2

"Finally! For fuck sake! You do exist!" Like seriously?! I almost forgot about this skill, was it even functioning properly? In fact, how skills work in the first place?

"Ahhh!" I screamed in frustration. Don't think about it, it's pointless! Just focus on what's happening right now. After calming down, I decided to look at my status again.

{Dark Vision} finally reached level 2. Well, I guess it's better than nothing, I thought to myself. I focused on my surroundings once again. After the skill reached level two, I noticed the difference in my vision. Now I could see somewhat clearer than before but still nothing.

It's too bad I still can't see properly, but even though I can't see, I can still feel what's going on around me with {Demonic Instinct}, so it's not like I'm completely helpless.

Right now, I could feel something. A presence, that's all. Something, someone, was nearby. I could feel its presence. I got a hint of familiarity from it, and I can already guess what it is.

I stood up and began to walk towards the direction of the presence. The closer I moved, the more I felt confident about what it is that I was sensing.

Slowly and quietly, I crept through the darkness, feeling my way through the cave. Maybe I shouldn't call this place a cave anymore because of how huge it is and you know with all the monsters and stuff. Therefore, I will just call this a dungeon. Now that's more fantasy-like!

Okay back to the matter at hand. As I kept creeping along the path, I was able to pinpoint where the presence was coming from. The presence was still there, so I assumed it was still around that area because I felt the presence growing stronger each second.

I stopped when I finally found the source of this presence. It was a figure standing there, unmoving. It looked exactly like what I remembered seeing earlier on, except I can only tell from the silhouette and from their size. But now I can make out some more detail on them.

It stood there in the darkness, looking straight ahead. Yes, it's the same kind of monster that I already fought twice today. Although, I never expected to run into it again inside this dungeon.

It's tall, about 6 feet maybe? Its body is slim and thin. Its skin is dark brownish red in color. I can't believe that I actually managed to defeat this kind of thing twice. Not only that, but I also managed to kill them without getting hurt myself. Isn't this ridiculous? I mean, I don't even know how to fight, I'm just a dumbass who's lucky enough to survive.

Well, I guess lucky is not always a bad thing. I should be thankful for being alive after this harrowing experience. I'm glad that I survived, and I'm glad that I'm strong enough to protect myself. If the goddess of luck truly exist then I would like to meet her someday.

The monster is not moving at all, it doesn't seem to notice my presence, or perhaps it simply ignores me. Which means that I can sneak up on it. I quickly moved forward, and hid behind a rock. I waited for a while, watching the monster carefully. I didn't want it to notice me, I wanted to observe it quietly. I felt like I wanted to know more about this creature.

So I watched it silently from a distance. I observed it intently, trying to learn as much as possible about this monster. I was curious about what it was capable of, and what it was going to do next. I watched its every move, the way it moved, the way it held itself, and the way it stood in place.

I continued to observe it for a while, until it finally began to walk away slowly. This time I decided to follow it. It didn't seem to notice me, and therefore I thought that I could easily catch up to it. So that's exactly what I did.

I followed it in silence, hoping that it wouldn't notice me. I tried to be as quiet as possible, making sure that I didn't make a single sound as I moved.

─You've learned a new skill: Stealth

I smiled happily when I saw the notification showing up in my status window. I took note of this skill, the name of which was stealth.

{Stealth}: The user can hide their presence and make it difficult to be detected. The skill is activated automatically when you are hidden from sight or view, and will last until you become visible.
