"How is she doing Dr. Brinks?" Marie asked as she and Sargon arrived at Vianna's door.
"She has been resting. She only needed one more shot when you left."
Marie looked at Harold and then sat next to him, facing him. Harold looked at her with exhaustion and defeat in his eyes.
"Harold, it will all be ok. You must stay outside but it should not be much longer. Sargon, you must stay outside as well. If I need you, I will let you know. If anyone else is in the room, the evil I am attempting to remove may find another host." She explained with her mind, as Sargon nodded.
Harold looked at them confused for a moment.
Marie took all of her items into Vianna's room. She was still shackled to her bed and began to look pale.
The sun was beginning to set, which was ideal since Marie's power was enhanced with the moonlight.
She opened the window in Vianna's room and placed a vanity mirror about the size of her mother's book and faced it towards the moon. She set up her protection circle along with her candles and made markings on Vianna with a black, dusty substance. Vianna stirred as Marie touched her.
Marie took Vianna's doll and placed in front of the mirror in a sitting position. She pulled out red and black ribbon and a several mini jars of herbs and other things to complete the spell.
Her focus had to be perfect since she could not speak her spells any longer. She had to do everything in her mind, which was challenging. Sometimes speaking the words out loud, gave her spells more strength.
Vianna opened her eyes and looked at Marie. Her eyes were not black, and her veins had begun to look their original color as well. The medicine had quieted the evil in her while she slept.
"What is happening?" Vianna asked sleepily. Her voice trembled as though her body was weak from the possession.
"Shh, do not fear my dear. Your father awaits you. In a few moments you will see him. All is well." Marie said warmly.
Vianna seemed to be calm and in her normal mindset but that could change instantly.
"I need you to focus on happy things right now, Vianna. If anything bad or scary comes to your mind, don't let it. Think of playing in fields of flowers and puppies. If you feel the urge to do anything bad, you need to try to push it out of your mind as hard as you can. Do you understand?" Marie asked, with a sweet softness to her voice.
Vianna nodded her head and closed her eyes. Marie needed to work fast. The evil inside of her was draining Vianna's energy quickly, almost eating away at her. Her little body couldn't stand much more of this torture.
Marie reached for her mother's talisman and closed her eyes. Mother, I need your help. Please help me to protect this little girl. She thought.
Suddenly, she felt a feeling of peace flow through her as she smiled to herself. She was ready.
Marie created a protection around Vianna and began her spell. She closed her eyes and began casting her spell through her mind. After the first round of her spell, Vianna's breathing became erratic.
Marie repeated the spell two more times as the beast within Vianna began to surface. "Fight it Vianna." Marie said, trying to remain calm. Vianna tried to do as she was told but the darkness was powerful.
Vianna eyes began interchanging between black and her grey-blue eyes. The veins in her neck and hands began to grow dark and she began hissing at Marie and pulling at the shackles.
Marie repeated the spell again and began burning herbs in a dish near Vianna. She picked up one of the bundles she created and waved the smoke it emitted around Vianna, while she chanted in her mind.
She took the small containers and created a mixture of what looked like blood, herbs, and stones amongst other things. She extracted some of the liquid through a needleless syringe and placed it on the side table near Vianna.
Repeating the spell once more, Marie grabbed Vianna's face and quickly forced the syringe into Vianna's throat quickly releasing the liquid down her throat as Marie held her mouth closed to swallow.
"Leave her be." Marie whispered as she grabbed the doll and began wrapping it with red and black ribbon, as she chanted the last part of her spell in her mind, repeatedly.
She placed the doll in front of the mirror that was still facing the moon that had made its way to the sky and continued chanting.
Vianna shifted angrily she pulled the shackles aggressively, growling at Marie.
When she was sure the liquid had made it through Vianna, Marie picked up the doll and faced it in front of Vianna as she held her face to look at it while continuing to chant.
"Leave her be!" Marie finally shouted as Vianna passed out on her bed.
Marie placed the doll in front of the mirror, closed her eyes and chanted her last words three times to seal the transfer as Vianna's veins transformed to their original color. Marie couldn't see her eyes, but the darkness was fading quickly throughout the rest of her body.
"Get a metal bucket or whatever you can find that I can burn something in, quickly." She told Sargon.
A few moments later, there was a knock on the door. Marie rushed to open the door, took the metal bin and closed the door behind her.
She wrote the spell on a paper and wrapped it around the doll, securing it with the remainder of the black ribbon. She placed the doll in the bucket, along with black salt, nails herbs and candle wax and lit it on fire. She then placed the bin on the windowsill as it burned.
When the contents were completely burned, she took two towels and lifted the hot bucket up, carrying it out of the room.
"Sargon, come with me and grab a shovel. Dr. Brinks, check her vitals. She needs fluids, now! Do not remove the shackles until I return." Marie instructed as Harold and Dr. Brinks ran into the room.
Sargon took the bin away from Marie as they briskly made their way to the garden and went beyond the beauty of it to a dark murky spot beyond the lake.
She instructed him to dig a hole as they threw the doll in the ground. She took one long nail and pounded it into the doll and covered it up.
"The earth will seal the spell." She told him through her mind as she kneeled near the mound and sat on her heels. She closed her eyes, placed her hand over the mound and completed the spell.
"It is done." She said.
Sargon reached for Marie's hand and lifted her off the ground as they head back to Vianna's room.
When they arrived at Vianna's room, Harold and Dr. Brinks were still inside. Marie turned the knob and entered the room.
Vianna sat up in bed as her father was speaking to her. She looked like her color washed through her again. Her eyes were bright, and veins were their normal. Dr. Brinks had hooked her up to an IV packet as instructed.
"Vianna, how do you feel, honey?" Marie asked her as she stood near her.
"I feel ok. I am a little tired and hungry, but I don't feel angry anymore." She smiled.
"That is wonderful. Lay down for me quickly, sweetheart." She instructed as Vianna complied.
Marie retrieved her pendulum and began moving it along Vianna's body as everyone stepped back and watched her work. She could no longer sense the presence of anything else other than Vianna. She put away her pendulum after several minutes and placed her hand on the side of Vianna's face.
"You did so well, princess. Thank you for being so strong and amazing." Marie said, smiling as Vianna smiled in return.
"You're welcome!" Vianna said happily.
"Here, wear this and do not every take it off. It is very special. It will help you to not feel so angry and try to hurt anyone again. It is your mother's, and she would love for you to have it." Marie said.
"Thank you, Marie. I am sorry." She said looking down.
"No. No, sweetie. What happened is not your fault. Don't ever think that. There are bad people in this world who use innocent, sweet people like you to harm others. I will protect you no matter what. We all will protect you." Marie said as she run her fingers through Vianna's hair.
"Thanks Marie. I hope you stay here forever." She said as Marie smiled and gave her a wink.
"Where is my mom?"
"Your mom will be here to see you shortly. We had to keep her safe for a moment."
"Ok, I understand." She said.
"You may remove the shackles. I would keep a guard or two nearby but after what I have just done, she should be safe.
Sargon ordered the guards to remove Vianna's shackles as she immediately jumped into her father's arms to hug him.
"Don't scare me like that again, princess." He said as tears streamed down his face.
"I won't daddy." She replied.
"I will go get Catelyn." Sargon said as him and Marie walked out of the room hand in hand.
