"So, is she the reason you turned down my offer?" Dezerae asked as she leaned on the meeting room table.
"I do have chairs. You may feel more comfortable sitting in one." Sargon replied.
"I prefer where I am. Thank you."
Sargon stood across from her and leaned on the wall.
"Well, my offer still stands, and I do believe that you may want to reconsider. A union may be more necessary than before. There was a breach in my father's kingdom. One of our men is dead and that does not happen. So, whatever you know about these poisonous rogues, you need to share." She said, folding her arms in front of her.
"Where you able to detain or kill the rogue?"
"No, he got away, but I do not need any more mishaps like this. Someone is trying to take out our kind. A poisonous rogue that can easily kill a powerful wolf is a very serious threat to our kind. I could easily take down many rogues at once but not these rogues."
Sargon listened to Dezerae carefully dissecting every word.
"Did you see the wounds caused by the rogue?" Sargon asked.
"No, Alpha Sargon. I did not see the wounds. I was simply informed of what happened and came to speak to you since you approached me about these poisonous rogues before." Dezerae replied becoming annoyed at Sargon's questioning.
"We are trying to find a cure for the poison. It has not been easy." He said.
"Ahhh, so one of your men have been harmed by the rogues."
Sargon remained silent.
"Is that what your little friend is here for? She does not appear to be one of us so there must be a reason you are keeping her around."
"What we will do is keep her out of this conversation." Sargon instructed.
"What is it with you Sargon? Are you afraid of your own kind? How is it that you only chose our kind to produce an heir?" Dezerae said, as she walked up to Sargon and pressed her body against his.
"A human cannot handle you like I can." She whispered in his ear.
Sargon grabbed either side of Dezerae's hips and moved her away from him slightly as he shifted from in front of her.
"Dezerae, what is it that you want?"
"Oh, I thought I was clear on that. I want you, silly." She said boldly.
"Other than me, what do you want?"
"See, here is the thing. If we unite our kingdoms, we will be the strongest team there is. Our two kingdoms are the most powerful separately. We both know this. Everyone knows this. If this new enemy knows that we are united, we stand a chance at fighting a threat that may be more powerful than our kingdoms individually." She said.
"Yes, I understand that part, but what does you marrying me have to do with anything? Our kingdoms can be allies without marriage."
"Yes, but I will need to bear an heir, just as you have done. You are the best choice." Dezerae said plainly.
Sargon remained quiet. He knew exactly what she was going through. He did the same when he was looking for someone to have Alaric. Choosing the right parent for your offspring was crucial but it was even more crucial when you are creating an heir. The choice must possess certain qualities and he knew he was the best choice.
"I can't give you a response to that right now. That is a very serious decision. I need to think about it."
"Oh dear, you have to talk it over with your little human? She is such a pretty little thing too. It is a shame she does not have a wolf. You two would be adorable together. You can keep her as well. You will grow tired of her eventually." She said, knowing that their kind would never accept a human as their queen so she had no competition.
Sargon paid no mind to Dezerae's slick comments.
"I will think about it. As for our kingdoms becoming allies, I will talk it over with the counsel. You may need to appear before them as well. They may need some convincing."
"Well, I guess I am camping out here until all is figured out. Father is taking care of things at the castle so we can take our time. Show me to my room." She said with a wink.
Sargon was completely irritated by this woman, but the last thing he needed was to make an enemy of the second strongest kingdom while his kingdom was going through all it was.
He knew that giving Dezerae a child would be a smart move but that's not something Marie would understand. She was already suspicious of this woman. He would need to explain things to her delicately.
"Follow me. I will have a guard escort you to your rooms. Your weapons will remain with us while you are here."
"Do you not trust me, Sargon?"
"This is protocols for my kingdom. If you do not like it, you are free to leave." He said simply.
"So stern. Very well, I will have my guards hand over their weapons. However, we are not the threat." She said.
Sargon walked up to Dezerae and reached under her dress lifting her thigh as he moved closer to her. He trailed his hand up her thigh as Dezerae's breath hitched. She leaned back on the table, enjoying his touch. He swiftly removed a dagger she wore strapped to her.
"Your weapons too." Sargon said as he released her thigh and stepped away from her.
"Hmm, I guess you have me all figured out, Alpha Sargon. A woman must always protect herself, you know."
"My guards are all the protection you and your men will need here." He replied.
Dezerae remained quiet for once.
"Since we are done here, I will leave you to my guards. You will be notified of any changes as I learn of them."
Dezarae leaned off of the table and gazed at Sargon with hunger in her eyes. His resistance to her was enticing.
She would have him no matter what it took. She had never been turned down and now was not when she would start.
"I will get what I want Sargon. With men, it is just a matter of time. You are powerful, but you are still a man." She said with a wink.
Sargon reached for her arm, escorting her out of the meeting room.
