After driving for about 35 minutes, Yichan stopped the car infront a gate to press a key card. After opening the gate, he drove for another 10 minutes and stopped at a lake in the middle of an open land.
there was small cottage with a walkway at the bank of the river. and a small bench outside the cottage. the land surrounding it was huge that one couldn't find any building or a house in their sight.
getting down from the car, he went around and opened the door for Yumi. stretching his hand for her, he called her.
"Yumi"
Chen Yumi who was in a daze lifted her head up to look at Zhang Yichan with teary eyes.
Yichan could see the sadness in her eyes. it pained him to look at the woman he loved heart broken. "Come with me" - he said.
Taking his hand, yumi walked with him to a cottage. Stopping infront of the cottage, Yichan opened the door for the cottage.
he looked at yumi who was standing beside him with her head down and called her to look up.
when she raised her head, Yichan saw that she was trying to hold her tears. her fists were clenched.
"Do you want to stay alone for sometime?" - he asked.
When she slowly nodded her head. he rubbed her head "go inside, its too cold outside for you. I will be in the car if you need me okay?" - saying this he gestured her to go in and left to sit in the car after closing the door.
when Yumi heard the footsteps sounds faded, she fell to the ground crying. all her pent up emotions have bursted out.
she had loved Xu Hao man for 4 years now. the man who took care of everything for her, provided everything for her even before she asked, showed up everywhere she was in trouble when she didn't even inform him, the man who cared for her so deeply, The man who was always sweet to her. the man she was engaged and was about to get married in 2 days.
Chen Yumi's thoughts went back to the day Xu Hao asked her to be his girlfriend.
Chen Yumi's mother who used to take care of her business fell from the stairs in their office and went into coma and to pay her medical fees, yumi has to stop her studies and join the company.
she was just a 20 year old, knowing nothing about business and how it works. she was struggling to take care of the business and looking after her mother in the hospital. Li Jing and the others have offered her so many times to help her, but she didn't take it. She didn't want to take the advantage of their friendship.
There was a time where she couldn't even pay her mum's hospital fee anymore. and she was too embarrassed to ask from any of her friends so she hid it from them. and was struggling to borrow money from loans. she was so desperate that she even went to the Chen Family and begged them for Money. But no one helped her and even Insulted her mother.
Just when she was about to loose all her hope, she got a call from the hospital saying the hospital bill has been paid by an anonymous person and her mother has been shifted to Special care ward.
she was so relieved that her mothers hospital bill has been paid and she has tried to find about that person but she couldn't. Until one day, she saw Xu Hao leaving her mother's room. And when she enquired about it, the nurse said the person who paid for her mother's hospital fee has visited her that day.
and since he wanted it to be anonymous, she never asked him despite knowing it. But from then, something changed the way Chen Yumi would look at Xu Hao. she started seeing him with admiration and after an year or so when he asked her to be his girlfriend, she realised she also had feelings for him. and soon they had become a couple.
"Yumi, will you be my girlfriend. I am in love with you for so many years but never had guts to tell you. " - Xu Hao asked nervously.
When he didn't get any reply from Chen Yumi, he got nervous , "I promise, I will treat you really well, will never break your heart. You will forever be the only woman in my life."
Chen yumi listened to his words, Smiled and nodded her head.
These 4 years, never did they have a fight about anything. Even though, Mother Xu never liked Chen Yumi, Xu Hao used to treat her really well. the only man she depended on after her father death was Xu Hao.
He was always busy, and rarely spend time with her for the past year. but somehow she never complained and understood him. She know that their Real estate business was blooming these days and so he was busy.
Seeing Xu Hao and Chen Manting together and their intimate behaviour, completely broke Chen Yumi's heart.
What's worst is , she has been looking at her mobile from the time she sat in Yichan's car and Xu Hao didn't even bother calling her once.
2 weeks ago, when he was having lunch with her, she accidentally saw a message on Xu Hao's phone.
"Brother Hao, can you bring me my favourite pastry tonight on your way home?" - the message said. There was no name on the contact, just a bunch of numbers.
When Xu Hao realised Chen Yumi has seen the message, he quickly said that his little cousin was visiting and she is the one who messaged him.
Thinking that it must be true, Chen Yumi didn't ask more. even though she had an ominous feeling about it, she didn't dwell on it.
Thinking about all the things he did sometimes that made no sense, she somehow connected the dots. Her heart was in pain.
she brought her knees together, put her head between her knees and started wailing.
