Ray and Zog head over to the shrine. As they arrive, Zog is startled by the huge shield guardian and the bodies of the troglodytes.

Prime throws the last troglodyte onto the piled bodies of troglodytes. "Master, I'm done," said Prime. (Telepathy).

"Good job, Prime. Zog, this is Prime, my guardian, " Ray said.

With a look of fear, Zog responds with a nod.

"Ok, let's check for treasures and any useful equipment, " Ray said. Prime responded, "Yes."(Telepathy). Zog nodded his head at Ray. After searching the base, the three returned to the shrine.

Ray and the others drop a handful of weapons and gear. "There weren't a lot of treasures," said Ray.

"Not much," said Zog.

Ray inspects the weapons and gear. He notices a red staff in the pile. He picks it up and analyzes it.

The staff of the fire strike. Release fire bolts on command. Fire temperature 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, range 100 yards. 1/10 charges. Made from a red oak branch.

"Nice!" Says Ray.

"Athena, if I assimilate the staff, will I be able to recreate it?" Asked Ray.

"Yes, Ray. After assimilation, you can cast fire strike as a spell." Said Athena.

"As a spell? That's great! I'll assimilate the staff." Said Ray.

Ray begins the assimilation of the staff. 10%, 20%,...,100%. Assimilation complete. New spells learned: fire strike, water strike, and stone strike.

"What water strike? Stone strike? How did I learn water strike and stone strike, Athena?" Asked Ray.

"When you assimilated fire strike, I created water and stone strikes by replacing the fire element. With each element you assimilate, you will learn a new spell as long as it is workable for that spell. You have the fire, water, and earth. You need air, lightning, holy, darkness, time, and space. If you get all these elements, you will become a master of elements." Said Athena.

"Athena, can I assimilate the air I breathe or the air around me?" Asked Ray.

"Yes, you can, Ray, and it can be a spell, spellbook, or scroll." Said Athena.

"Dang master of elements! That sounds so cool. I, Ray, will become a master of elements!" Said Ray.

Ray uses assimilation on the air around him 10%, 20%,.....100%. Assimilation complete. You learned a new spell, Wind Blade.

"Let's check my new spells." Said Ray.

Flame strike: level 1. A 2000-degree firebolt shoots out. Damage spell power x 2 + 100 per spell level. Burn damage 100. Range 100 yards. 10mp consumed.

Water strikes level 1. 2000psi of water shoots out continuously. Damage spell power x 2 + 100 per spell level. Range 10yards. 10mp consumed per second.

Stone strike: level. One hundred razor-sharp stone shards shoot out. Damage spell power x 2 + 100 per spell level. Range 50 yards. 10mp consumed.

Wind blade: level 1. A single sword blade forms out of the air, slicing at the target. Damage spell power x 2 + strength per spell level. Range 5 yards. 10mp consumed.

Ray picks a few pieces of gear from the pile: bracers, pants, and boots.

"Sweet new spells, and I have completed my armor set." Said Ray.

"Now let's try a new spell. I'll try water strike." Said Ray.

Ray points his right hand out towards a stalagmite and chants the command. "Water strike!"

A blue light circles around his hand, and then water forms in front of it and shoots forward. Like a laser beam, it cuts right through the stalagmite, revealing a 6-inch-diameter hole that can be seen completely through the stalagmite.

"Wow, that's powerful. Let's test another spell." Said Ray.

As Ray was about to cast another spell, loud yelling could be heard. Kill the troglodytes!! Kill the troglodytes!! Ray and Zog turn to look and see the kobold clan led by the chief approaching.

"Zog, what has happened!" Yelled the chief.

Zog runs to the chief and bows.

"Thorzen is a powerful chief—too powerful. He killed all troglodytes, " Zog said.

The chief looks at Zog, then looks at Thorzen.

"Haha, he's weak!" yelled the chief.

"No, he's powerful!" Yelled Zog.

The chief got so jealous and angry that he lifted his spear and stabbed Zog right through his throat. Zog grabbed the spear and attempted to pull it out. He struggled as gurgling sounds came from him. The chief pulled the spear out, and Zog fell forward and died.

"You next!" yelled the chief. The chief moves forward towards Ray.

Ray smiled at the chief, then chanted a spell command. As the chief got within 5 yards of Ray, a sky-blue light formed around Ray's hand, then an airy sword appeared above the chief's head. The chief looked up at the sword. The moment his eyes landed on the sword. Swoosh! The sword came down so fast the chief didn't have time to blink. The blade slashed the chief's head, cutting him in half down to his midsection. The chief looked like he was being peeled in half.

Ray smirked at the chief. Laughing Ray said, "damn, that was cool."

The fifteen other kobolds ran towards Ray. Defensively, Ray began to cast another spell. Prime ran toward Ray and the kobolds. The kobolds stopped and bowed before Ray. Ray stopped his spell and Prime. Ray stared at the kobolds. The kobolds began to chant, New chief! New chief! Ray smiled at the kobolds.

"You want me to be your chief!?" Ray yelled.

The kobolds got silent. The kobolds looked at each other. "Yes, your new chief!" Yelled the kobolds.

"Yes, I'm your chief! I am Chief Thorzen!" Yelled Ray.

The kobolds began chanting Thorzen! Thorzen!

Thorzen raises his hand. The kobolds stop chanting. Thorzen yells, "Look at my true form!"Thorzen transforms into his proper form, a Changeling. The kobold's eyes pop open wide in astonishment. They stare at him silently. Prime moves next to Ray. The kobolds notice Prime moving next to Thorzen.

Ray walks towards Zogs fallen body and lays his hand upon it. Ray commands for assimilation. A silver light appears around Ray's hand. It engulfs Zog's body, turning it into a liquid form, and then it disappears. Assimilation is complete.

The chanting of Thorzen! Thorzen! Started again. Ray raises his hand. Silence fell upon the kobolds.
