Zoe Monroe was deeply suspicious. She tentatively asked Kian Jacobs, "Brother, were these strawberries really a gift from the club?"
"Yeah. How do they taste?"
"They're pretty good."
Kian Jacobs didn't care for them, so he just reminded her that she was still recovering from a serious illness and shouldn't eat too many cold things that might upset her stomach. "The meal you owe Jonathan, I took care of it for you. You just focus on your recovery."
"Thanks, Brother."
"When are you going to complete your onboarding paperwork?"
"Next Thursday, after the public announcement period ends."
Kian Jacobs nodded, then casually asked, "You wanted to treat Jonathan to a meal? You've invited him a few times?"
Zoe Monroe fiddled with a strawberry and reluctantly nodded. "I just don't want to owe him any favors."
