Caleb's POV
"So what you're telling me is that he'll just continue getting weaker over time."
Riley nods slowly, her expression grave. "That's right, but waiting isn't an option for us." Her fingers find mine, intertwining with them in a gesture that sends familiar electricity coursing through my veins.
The sensation catches me off guard every time. "If we sit back and wait, I'll be dead long before he becomes truly vulnerable. That's not happening. And there's something else that worries me even more - I believe the children are somehow tied into all of this." Her voice grows harder, more determined. "During his attack on us, when he sensed the kids nearby, he specifically told me to take good care of them. Later, when we cornered him in the house, he claimed he only wanted to see them up close. There's definitely a plan brewing in his twisted mind, something that involves our children. That's the real reason we're still breathing - he needs me alive to ensure their survival."
