Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: A New Companion

When Scy arrived in Leubrem, he immediately noticed something unusual.

The streets were noisy.

People were all looking in one direction.

There were whispers.

Tension filled the air.

Scy frowned.

"What's going on…?"

He slowly walked closer.

And then—

he saw something he couldn't ignore.

A nobleman was mercilessly whipping a female elf.

"Argh!" the woman cried as blood stained her back.

The people around—

just watched.

No one moved.

No one helped.

Scy's expression turned cold.

His eyes slowly darkened.

"This is what I hate the most…"

he whispered.

"Seeing people being oppressed."

In an instant—

he raised his hand.

And immediately—

sharp blades formed from slime.

But it wasn't ordinary slime.

It was solid.

As hard as mithril.

The blades surrounded the nobleman.

The whip stopped.

The man froze in fear.

"W-what is this?!"

"Let the elf go," Scy said coldly.

"If you want to live."

The man trembled.

"Y-yes! Yes! I'll let her go!"

He quickly released the elf.

She collapsed to the ground.

Gasping.

Barely able to move.

In that moment—

Scy's aura changed.

From cold…

to calm.

He walked closer.

"Thank you," he said.

"I'll buy her from you."

"Y-yes! Of course!" the man replied.

He didn't waste another second.

He ran away—

as if death was chasing him.

Silence filled the area.

No one spoke.

---

Scy knelt in front of the elf.

"What's your name?"

The woman looked up weakly.

"Na… Natalia…"

Her voice was faint.

Filled with exhaustion.

"Why did you save me…?" she asked.

"You don't even know me…"

Scy let out a small sigh.

"Don't think about it."

"What matters is… you're safe now."

He reached out his hand.

"Come with me."

"Be my companion."

Tears fell from Natalia's eyes.

Slowly, she took his hand.

"Thank you…"

"Master Scy…"

Scy smiled faintly.

"Don't call me master."

"Just Scy."

Natalia nodded.

"Yes… Scy."

---

The two of them went to the Adventurer Guild.

As they entered—

people immediately looked at them.

There were whispers.

Curious eyes everywhere.

But Scy ignored them.

They approached the receptionist.

"She wants to register," Scy said.

The receptionist nodded.

"Alright. Place your hand here."

Natalia did as told.

And in an instant—

the crystal shined brightly.

"Class A."

Scy glanced at her.

"Class A…?"

Deep inside—

he felt a slight hint of envy.

But he quickly hid it.

"It's fine…"

"As long as I can earn for my family."

---

After registering—

they looked for a place to stay.

But almost every house—

was expensive.

"That's way too much…" Scy muttered.

As they were thinking—

someone approached them.

A woman.

The receptionist.

"I know a place," she said.

"My brother has a house."

"It's cheap. Big. And in good condition."

Scy looked at her.

"How much?"

"20 gold per month."

He thought for a moment.

Then—

nodded.

"We'll take it."

---

She brought them to the house.

It was spacious.

Clean.

And well-kept.

"This is good," Scy said.

Natalia nodded.

"Yes…"

---

That night—

the house was quiet.

The light was dim.

As they prepared to sleep—

Natalia suddenly spoke.

"Scy…"

"I'm scared…"

Scy looked at her.

"Of what?"

"Here…"

"Can we…"

"Sleep in the same room?"

Scy stayed silent.

He thought for a moment.

"…Alright."

"But I'll sleep on the floor."

Natalia was surprised.

"No…"

But Scy only smiled.

"It's fine."

---

Meanwhile…

the receptionist was talking to her brother.

"The ones who rented the house…"

"Do you know who that is?"

The man stayed silent.

"Who?"

"The one they call…"

"The False Class Adventurer."

The man frowned.

"False Class…?"

---

At that moment—

Scy was lying quietly on the floor.

Staring at the ceiling.

While Natalia slept on the bed.

But despite the silence—

trouble was already on its way.

And they still didn't know…

that their lives were slowly about to change.
