"He leaves today, or I cut you off, Nicole," Benjamin declared. "The apartment, the tuition, the trust fund for this child—all of it disappears. You will be nothing in this city."
"Then let it go," Nicole said, her voice steady. "I'd rather be 'nothing' with him than a prisoner in a gold cage with you. We're leaving."
