"Huh? What does any of that have to do with me?"
Watching his name flash across the screen of the Myriad Worlds Video Network, Krillin scratched his bald head in genuine confusion. What did the narrator mean by saying he had never seen Goku truly angry? It didn't make sense at first. But as he reflected, he realized it was true—in their daily lives and training, Goku was the most easygoing person he knew.
He had seen Goku fight, sure, but a soul-consuming rage? He had only ever witnessed that through the video's playback, never with his own eyes in the physical world. He wondered if there was some inseparable, karmic connection between his own existence and the birth of the legendary Super Saiyan.
As a tactical thinker, Krillin was usually quick on the uptake, but because he was the focal point of the mystery, the answer eluded him. He was too close to the flame to see the fire. However, the multiverse was about to receive an explanation that would tug at the heartstrings of every viewer.
"As the worlds are aware," the narrator's voice resonated, "Krillin and Son Goku are more than friends; they are brothers-in-arms who have bled and trained together since childhood. Their bond is a primordial force, deeper than blood and unmatched by any other pairing in the multiverse. To touch Krillin is to touch Son Goku's 'Inverse Scale'—the one thing that, if provoked, ensures absolute destruction."
The screen flickered, transitioning to a grainy, nostalgic scene from Goku's youth. It showed the heartbreaking moment when a young Goku discovered Krillin's lifeless body, murdered by Tambourine, the spawn of King Piccolo.
The viewers watched as the usually cheerful boy transformed into a vessel of pure, cold fury. Ignoring the pleas of his master, Master Roshi, Goku charged into the night with an exhausted body, driven by a singular, burning desire for vengeance.
"So... that's what happened back then?" Krillin whispered, feeling a wave of emotion wash over him. He remembered his first death, of course, but he had been dead—he hadn't seen the aftermath. Seeing Goku's raw agony and his desperate rush to avenge him proved that their brotherhood was the foundation of Goku's strength.
This display of loyalty resonated across the dimensions. In the world of Fairy Tail, Natsu Dragneel and his guildmates felt a surge of kinship. They understood this better than anyone; for the sake of a comrade, they would challenge the gods themselves.
"That was Krillin's first death," the narrator continued. "And his demise on Planet Namek marked the second. By observing Goku's reaction to the first, we can understand the depth of the tragedy of the second. Tambourine was eventually pulverized by Goku's wrath. Had Goku possessed the base power and the specific genetic triggers at that age, he likely would have ascended to Super Saiyan right then and there."
"On Planet Namek, Frieza committed the ultimate taboo: he executed Krillin. And he did it directly in front of Goku's eyes. When Goku saw his best friend vanish into dust once more, the same boundless rage from his childhood erupted—but this time, his body was ready. This is why the Super Saiyan's birth is entirely Frieza's fault.
Without that specific cruelty toward Krillin, the golden warrior might never have awakened. This is also why Krillin has never seen Goku truly angry: because Goku only reaches that level of fury after Krillin is already gone."
Inside his spaceship, Frieza's eyes narrowed into slits. "So that's the trick? I birthed my own nightmare by swatting a fly?" He finally understood. If he simply ignored the bald Earthling, the Super Saiyan stayed dormant. To Frieza, Krillin was an ant, but he hadn't realized that stepping on that particular ant triggered a galactic landmine.
However, he wasn't one for self-reflection. "When I reach Earth, I won't waste time playing with toys. I'll find the Dragon Balls and erase the entire planet from existence before they even know I've arrived. Let's see them transform when they're all stardust!"
Back in West City on Earth, Krillin was moved to tears. He finally understood the paradox. He was the catalyst for the greatest power in the universe, but he could never witness it because his own death was the price of admission. Having a brother like Goku made every hardship in his life feel worth it. A great master, a loyal brother... now if I could just find a wife, life would be perfect, he thought wistfully.
The narrator's voice took on a cryptic, teasing tone as the video began to fade. "Of course, the Frieza of that era didn't realize that even against a Super Saiyan, he still had a path to victory. All it would have taken was a few push-ups. Nor did he know that Goku's act of mercy—sharing his Ki to save Frieza's life—would act as a dark foreshadowing for the future. But do not worry; those stories will be told in time."
The video cut to black, leaving Frieza in a state of agitated obsession. "A few push-ups? Sharing Ki? Entanglement? Does this mean that monkey and I are destined to clash forever?" The idea that he, the Emperor, would be perpetually linked to a "stinky Saiyan" was infuriating.
The Z-Fighters were equally pensive. Did Goku fail to kill Frieza? Would the tyrant return from the grave? They weren't afraid, however. They had seen the peak of Goku's power, and they knew that no matter how many times Frieza returned, the golden light of the Super Saiyan would always be there to meet him.
Behind the scenes in West City, Akira monitored the metadata of the releases. The Super Saiyan video was an absolute phenomenon, skyrocketing to the top of the "Transformation Event" rankings across the Myriad Worlds Video Network. Even the Great Ape video was pulling in massive numbers. The Saiyan legacy was officially the talk of the multiverse.
But Akira, with his knowledge of the future, knew this was just the beginning. These forms were child's play compared to what was coming. The Gods of Destruction like Beerus were still silent, unimpressed by mere golden hair. But Akira was waiting for the moment he could drop the footage of Super Saiyan God or the silver-haired majesty of Ultra Instinct.
If I can get the Ultra Instinct video to rank first, Akira mused, the rewards could be reality-shattering. That video features Zeno, the Omni-King. If the system grants me even a fraction of Zeno's 'Erasure' ability, I won't just be safe from Frieza or Vegeta—I'll be the one the Gods of Destruction fear.
