Chapter 0: Prologue

"What a life…"

"It has been so long…"

"To think my life had already reached its end…"

"How unfortunate…"

Jin Moxi was laying flatly on the snowy ground in a tattered cloak painted with blood and snow.

The breath escaping his maw formed a white mist that quickly dissipated.

Far away in the sky was a legion of machine monstrosity that had almost fully blown off the lower half of his body.

He wanted to let out a chuckle, to smile at the absurdity—yet his monstrous face remained vacant.

The blood seeping out the gaping hole on his abdomen, the snow began to gradually redden.

Then, he heard footsteps. A heavy one at that.

He knew that his death would come but he was somewhat disappointed that the world still refused to let him die peacefully.

"There's no point in worrying."

He muttered weakly as the monster had come into view.

A frog-like beast, six-eyed, the size of a building and harbouring rows of razor-sharp teeth.

"A Swally…"

The "Swally's" thorny tongue slowly wrapped itself around his body, lifting him off the bloodied ground.

Soft, wet, slightly warm and noticeably thorny.

The tongue slowly entered the gaping hole on his abdomen and slowly wiggled its way into the organs.

Eventually, he had finally been brought into the monster's mouth, the tongue pulled out from the hole, leaving the blood flowing out.

For every single bite, he felt the pain of a hundred razor-sharp daggers piercing through his flesh and bones.

Shattered bones, torn flesh, blood spilled.

After 13 minutes, death had finally claimed him.

***

I am Jin Moxi, a formerly ordinary man.

Obviously, a person that could endure and survive through the Apocalypse for so long mostly alone wouldn't be an ordinary person anymore.

I don't really remember much of my time in the early apocalypse outside of the fact that I had just lucked out.

So many near-death experiences.

In the end, I perished not in the hand of my enemy but as a casualty from a reckless alien.

It's alright. It is what it is, I have already died after all—nothing I think or do would change that fact.

I wonder, am I in the afterlife?

If so, which one?

Though, I hope to rest in peace—but I undoubtedly would be dropped into the depths of the sea of blazing flames within Hell.

Based on the amount of wrongdoings I have committed throughout my damned life—it isn't that long of a stretch.

It could also be just the atheist's interpretation where nothing truly exists beyond death—I would just be a disembodied consciousness drifting through emptiness.

So bright…

Is that… a ball of light?

Hu-

ARGH!

UKH!

WHAT THE FUCK!?

GAH!

Then, silence returned into the void.
