Chapter 1 - chapter 1 : My eyes are cursed

They call me cursed.

They call me a calamity.

My birth was nothing but a nightmare for my family. When I came into this world, my mother passed away.

By the time I was two, my father followed. Then the villagers abandoned me.

That was the day I understood the truth: my eyes brought death to everything I looked at. Vomiting blood.

Organs failing.

Body collapsing.

Death followed.

Death came before… or after.

I wanted to end this curse that tormented me.

I wanted a friend, just one to talk to. Someone who would love me.

But there was only silence, and a faint stench of rotting flesh on the breeze.

I tried to remove my eyes. I gouged them out.

I pierced them.

I suffered greatly, yet they always regenerated.

My meals were dead bodies.

My only goal was to be a normal human, like everyone else.

In this medieval world, the globe is divided into three powerful kingdoms which are ;

The Empire of Spain: known for its widespread practice of slavery, where humans are bought and sold like goods. Slave traders are kings, and auctions are common currency.

The Empire of Floria: a kingdom where wealth is measured by the number of subjects.

The most powerful are those with the largest armies of soldiers, most skilled artisans, and smartest advisors.

The Empire of Oriana: a legendary kingdom, where adventurers and explorers are kings. Streets are filled with treasure hunters, mercenaries, and warriors seeking glory and fortune.

The Forbidden Zones, those mysterious and dangerous lands where supernatural creatures reign supreme. Adventurers, those brave heroes who dare venture there, are the only ones who can protect populations from the threats hiding there.

These adventurers, gifted with exceptional abilities, don't hesitate to make pacts with demonic entities to acquire the power needed for their quest. They're the guardians of balance, defenders of the people's safety.

But beyond the empires, unexplored territories await discovery. Unknown lands, unexplored seas, dark forests, and impassable mountains... Adventurers are ready to face all dangers to uncover secrets of these mysterious lands.

In the Empire of Oriana. In a small town, the roads were tarred with stones. The town was full of life. People discussing joyfully. Traders selling their goods to the clients. The taverns doors were widely opened.

Immediately two people ran in the streets. Pursued by a crowd.

"Bandits!!!" shouted the crowd.

"Hold them."

The two bandits, pursued by their enemies, had taken refuge in the dead forest, a sinister and unsettling place.

The stench of rotting flesh immediately assaulted them, and they understood they weren't alone.

Their encounter with the child with silver-white hair, chocolate skin and eyes covered with an animal skin was even stranger.

I knew this forest was strange... We will died here?

He seemed lost and solitary, but there was something disturbing about him. The child was behind a tree with torn dress.

Why is this kid covering his eyes with... That

Then slowly the bandit with black hair approached the kid. The kid moved backward.

"Don't be afraid, where is your family?"

His words were enigmatic, and the bandits didn't know what to think.

The face of the bandit changed expression slowly. In a few metres away there was a village.

"Where are the villagers?"

"I killed them" he said speaking of his family and the villagers.

The bandits were shocked, but the child seemed not to understand the gravity of his actions.

Then the bandit with black hair approached him.

"What did you mean by that?"

The child looked at him his eyes covered with animal skin seemed to have pierced through him. But the kid repeated the same words as the most natural thing that exists.

The bandit with long hair, who had stayed back, approached in turn.

"How did you do it?" His voice was softer than his companion's own.

The child shrugged to respond. "I don't know either they're dead."

The bandits exchanged a look, not knowing what to do. They were in an impossible situation. A child, who seemed to have killed his whole family and the villagers, was looking at them with empty eyes. Then the bandit with long hair wanted to flee from the place.

"Listen, kid," said the bandit with black hair.

"We need to get out of here. You can't stay alone in this forest."

A silence for a few seconds.

A pungent smell rose as the breeze moved their hair, then child said.

"No, I don't want to leave. I want to stay here.. with you"

The bandits looked at each other again, not knowing what to do. They were outlaws, thieves, but they weren't monsters. They couldn't leave a child alone in the forest.

"Listen," said the bandit with long hair, "we'll stay with you a bit. But you have to tell us what happened. Okay"

Then the child nodded with a small smile on his face.

The black hair bandit sat down next to him, trying to understand the incomprehensible. But they didn't know the child was hiding a secret from them, a secret that would put them all in danger.
