Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 — Returning From the Game World

New York, daytime…

Shaun Cole tugged lightly at the hood over his head and studied the crowd flowing past him. Their clothing looked strangely old-fashioned, and newly erected wooden utility poles lined both sides of the street.

"Did I end up in the wrong era?"

He muttered under his breath.

This was not Shaun Cole's first transmigration.

Originally, he had been nothing more than an ordinary 21st-century college graduate, newly stepping into society. After finally landing a job, he decided to celebrate by booting up a game he had downloaded long ago. Somewhere between playing and exhaustion, he fell asleep.

When he awoke, he found himself inside the game world.

The game was Assassin's Creed: Origins.

At first, confusion and despair nearly swallowed him whole. But after calming down, and relying on his knowledge of the game's plot and historical context, he not only survived—he rose to become a legendary Assassin. In time, he even obtained a powerful Isu relic, a Grail-class artifact.

Through it, Shaun Cole gained immortality.

Era followed era.

Assassin's Creed I.

Assassin's Creed II.

And beyond.

In the end, when he finally secured one of the final fragments he had pursued—an artifact forged to counter Isu influence—darkness swallowed his vision once more.

When the world returned—

He was here.

Scanning his surroundings, Shaun Cole noticed a park not far ahead. At its center stood a towering building. In the blink of an eye, he shot forward like lightning.

A blonde woman nearby screamed as a sudden gust lifted her skirt. She clutched it down and looked around—but saw no one.

By the time she reacted, Shaun Cole was already at the base of the building.

He pushed off the ground with both feet, leaping over two meters into the air. As he fell, his hands caught a narrow crevice in the wall, while his feet found purchase on a protruding ledge below.

Hands and feet moving in perfect coordination, he climbed another two meters in a single second.

Where there were no gaps or ledges, he simply leapt again—

planting his feet against the wall and kicking upward.

Within a minute, Shaun Cole reached the summit.

The rooftop was barely wide enough to stand on with one foot. He crouched there calmly, his white Assassin robes faintly gleaming under the sunlight.

At that moment, multicolored radiance erupted from his body, expanding outward in all directions.

Only Shaun Cole could perceive it.

In an instant, the surrounding buildings and streets within several kilometers transformed in his mind into a living map.

This ability was known as Eagle Vision.
