Xiaotian smiled happily. "Good, that means I can train here inside."
"To a certain extent," replied the voice.
"What do you mean?" Xiaotian frowned before opening the scroll.
"For training that requires spiritual energy, I need a lot of energy to maintain myself. Right now, I don't have that much energy; at most, I could sustain this world for 1 hour outside if you decide to train."
"You mean I have to give you spirit crystals too?"
"I am a tool, sir," the voice reminded him. "You should know that we tools also require spiritual nourishment."
Xiaotian frowned, almost forgetting that the fifth thing that required spiritual energy, and one of the most energy-consuming, was tools.
Still, it was fine. For training for 3 hours and only spending 1 hour outside, any amount was a good investment.
He prepared to speak, but the voice came first.
"Before you use me as a tool for strengthening yourself and want to spend your wealth on that, I remind you that there is more here that you want to see and understand. Right now, you are only seeing a small part of me. And I need spiritual nourishment to grow," he reminded him, his voice sounding more enigmatic.
Xiaotian nodded; he remembered.
Especially because of something he had obtained from this ball.
He looked at his inventory; there was something else there that he hadn't checked since the first time he obtained it.
It was a ball, very similar to this one when it was in its dead phase, back in the ruins. It was gray and rough; it didn't look like an item at all.
But it was impressive.
Its name was "Stormy Call," and the moment he obtained it, a Legacy Technique entered his head, "Desolate Echo Technique." He could use it as long as he had the necessary materials.
The best part was that he had all three of the necessary materials.
One of them was a Crystallized Echo, which he had obtained in that house.
The other was an item from a region of a Specter's body (the Cursed Scale).
And finally, the third item he obtained from the queen, a token called the Queen's Order.
Thanks to that and the legacy technique inherited from this powerful item, he could summon Spectral Spider beasts (or any type of arachnid beast for which he had an item) to do all kinds of work for him.
There were certain limitations and some rules, but it was more than impressive because it could grow over time.
Growing this tool is a priority.
'And I'm weak, the strengthening doesn't last long now,' he thought.
His mind began to work quickly on a plan.
"How many spirit crystals do you need for three hours here?" he finally asked.
"About two thousand, maybe."
It was a painful figure. It seemed he would have to wait; even with all his current fortune, it wasn't enough.
"And to evolve?"
"I don't know. I guess if you put in a large amount, I'll find out."
Xiaotian's eyebrows arched slightly. That sounded like a scam.
But he didn't say anything about it; instead, he decided to use the time he had mentioned earlier and sat down.
He finally opened the skill scroll he had wanted to see so badly: his reward from the System.
He had learned from the memories inherited by little Xiaotian that a Legacy Technique was something impressive and too difficult to obtain.
Practically speaking, Legacy Techniques initially originate from you; they come from your Specialization, converted into a technique. But to do so, you require something called "Blessing Cores," whose origin is currently unknown to him, although he recalls that they are presumed to be extremely difficult to obtain.
A Legacy Technique that can be inherited implies that it reached a milestone in its "evolution" through the Blessing Cores, which gave it the ability to be transmitted over time. Many very powerful sects, organizations, and clans were founded around one of them.
The Oak Sword Sect, of which he is a part, has a powerful legacy technique upon which it was founded, the Oak Sword Technique. A very select number of people can learn it throughout their lives, probably those who later become Chief Elders or Sect Masters.
The same goes for the Swordsman Legacy Tower, which he has longed to access for as long as he can remember, the Tower that governs this Province, called the Province of the Sword.
That means that Legacy Techniques are powerful, and if you have them, it is essential that you study them in order to grow. These techniques are different from cultivation techniques; although they are for cultivation, they are much more powerful.
That's why he was so curious about it. Even more so, knowing that it's not something that existed on earth, not that he can remember.
When he carefully opened the scroll and began to read its contents, understanding slowly dawned on him.
These legacy techniques were like the Ruin Hunters' abilities on earth, only more powerful.
'It reminds me of the Broken Abilities,' he thought, amazed.
On Earth, these skills were highly sought after by everyone. He came to possess several of them.
These were divided into stages, unlike Earth abilities, which were all one-and-done. If something was powerful, it would never be weak; that was the logic of Earth's abilities.
These techniques, on the other hand, had stages for all levels.
The one he had in his hands, the Windy Fire Swordsman Technique, had five levels, each more difficult than the last.
"Winged Fire and Hot Blizzard..." He read the first two levels.
It sounded like a combination of fire and wind, something peculiar but interesting.
Each of these levels had its own detailed explanation, explaining very well how one should train.
It began by explaining how to emit fire (or wind) through your cultivation. The explanation was so simple that it left Xiaotian stunned, wondering if it really was that easy.
The other two levels were explained later, but separately. It indicated that you should first train in one and then in the other, separately.
The explanation of the levels was more detailed.
But levels three, four, and five were not available. Although they were written, he could not see them; a strange fog on the paper covered them and indicated that he must first study the first two levels, and when he had learned them perfectly, the rest would be unlocked.
'Perhaps they are too dangerous to try to learn right now,' he thought, and convinced himself that this was the case.
He looked back at the first two levels and read them carefully for a while before moving on to learning how to emit fire with his cultivation.
