Chapter 25 - Drunken Swordsman Tower

The Drunken Swordsman Tower was a tower of prestigious swordsmen throughout this region. It belonged to a Tower that ruled a large territory in another area of the Sword Province and was slightly above the strength of the Oak Sword Sect.

It was a prestigious tower that allowed anyone to enter, even members of other sects, as it only cared about the strength and prestige of the swordsman.

But entering was not easy for someone as weak as Xiaotian, so he had to ask Ruxue and Uncle Mu for a favor, as they both had membership tokens and were also a prestigious family. It wasn't that difficult for them.

It was a large pavilion, a building with few windows, but five stories high. Its decoration was simple, in red like wine, but Xiaotian ignored it.

He entered the Tower and walked through the different courtyards.

The Drunken Swordsman Tower was a training ground for swordsmen, so it was common to see them fighting here and there.

But there were also powerful people from the city who gathered here to watch the fights in the arena, which was open to all challengers, with powerful beasts waiting to be challenged.

That's why there was a large influx of people. Some were members; they wore the token pinned to their clothes, as Xiaotian was doing at that moment on his chest. Others looked suspiciously at those who wore those tokens.

Xiaotian didn't care.

He had researched the tower before, and since it was a training ground, it would naturally be his main starting point.

But he wasn't looking to train with those members downstairs; they usually came to establish mutually beneficial relationships with other nobles or wealthy people, and he didn't come here for that. Instead, he went up to the upper floors where there were more training areas, albeit a little more specialized.

His intention here was not just to train. He came here with the intention of contacting the Drunken Elder, the leader of the tower.

That would be complicated; that man is very eccentric. But for his plans, he needed to do it.

Ever since he learned that the Zhangs had given him up for dead, he understood that he was not fighting against simple people, but against a powerful family. Even more... he was fighting against people he did not know, but who were waiting in the shadows to devour him.

He had to be smarter than all of them.

And for that, he needed to move quickly and seek out specific things, such as gaining a connection with a man as powerful as the Drunken Elder.

That man was respected by everyone in the city, for whoever was here was very powerful, more than they should be.

'But I still have to train. I can't waste time,' he thought.

A month was very little time for a cultivator, and he was at a great disadvantage compared to his rivals. He had just awakened; they had done so long ago, or had many resources or great talent.

He had advanced to Rank 2 of his Life Root, which was impressive, but it was still too little talent to catch up in such a short time, and he practically needed to win the tournament that would take place a month later to earn his place, then he could calmly reveal who he was.

He needed to hurry, but he also needed something different.

The only advantage he has over his rivals is his Legacy Technique. While they practice basic cultivation techniques, he can practice a Legacy Technique that will greatly help him close the strength gap that his cultivation alone cannot.

That's why training alone was ideal.

Based on the movements of that legacy technique, he began to work. He did not summon fire because he knew it consumed too much spiritual energy, and he did not have any to spare, even though he had many crystals. Instead, he began to practice the movements slowly and deliberately.

The sound of the sword in the empty room caught the attention of people who came to take a look, but when they saw it was a stranger or some traveler practicing basic things, they quickly lost interest.

He stopped a few hours later.

'I ran out of spiritual energy.' He sighed and took out some spirit crystals.

He sat down in the middle of the room and closed his eyes, beginning to absorb the energy into them.

The spiritual energy flew from those crystals into his body; it was much faster than when his life root was Rank 1, but it was still slow.

It took him about 2 hours to absorb enough spirituality, but it wasn't enough for what he needed, so he continued until 4 hours had passed.

At that point, he had absorbed 10 spiritual crystals. It was too slow, but that was the talent of someone without talent.

He returned to training.

He focused only on simple, but strangely eye-catching movements.

"It's weird what that guy is training, isn't it?" asked someone watching from afar.

"I thought so too. What cultivation technique is he training? Could he be a traveler?"

"He looks like one," he replied. "He's wearing a mask and everything."

"But he's not strong. He's barely in the Body Strengthening Realm," replied the other.

"Well..." His friend didn't know what to say and shrugged.

"It's the first time I've seen him, anyway. It doesn't matter much."

They both turned around after watching for a while and left.

Xiaotian followed behind them, not to follow them, but to leave.

'How quickly time passes,' he thought as he saw that it was night again. He hadn't even noticed how many hours he had been training.

It hadn't been a productive day, at least not for his plans. He still thought those movements were really complicated, even when they were done without involving fire.

He couldn't find a way to perform them without affecting the power too much; as a result, some of the power was lost in the movement, and he ended up throwing simple punches that started with a lot of force.

'I don't hurt anyone, even though I use a lot of strength and energy.' He sighed and walked back to Mu House.

Another misfortune that befell him was not being able to see the Drunken Elder.

He knew that man was eccentric, but also passionate about swords, addicted to sword techniques that seemed eccentric. Perhaps because his own sword technique was of that type. That's why his initial plan was to get his attention that way so that he would come to him.

That had happened before; even the Zhang Family guards used to say so.

If it didn't work, he would have to resign himself and approach in an unorthodox way; honestly, he hoped that wouldn't happen. Therefore, he would take a week to try this way before moving on to the next plan.

It was a long time considering he only had one month to prepare, but it was enough time to test the waters.

Back at Mu House, Xiaotian found a letter from Ruxue informing him of a few things.

'Is she already asleep?' he wondered and entered in his own courtyard room.

He sat on the bed and assumed a cultivation posture, surrounded himself with a pile of spirit crystals, then closed his eyes and began to cultivate.
