Chapter 7 - Let's hunt the Rudra Familia
Lain clicked on the panel, and a spatial fluctuation appeared. His and Ryuu's bodies gradually faded.
The two returned to his tent in Orario.
Ryuu clicked her tongue in amazement, her gaze toward Lain growing increasingly curious. Could the other party be some kind of god, deliberately concealing his identity to play tricks on her? Although gods would be sent back to Tenkai if they used their Arcanum, gods had lived for hundreds of millions of years, and their methods were wondrous and complex, so such a possibility could not be ruled out.
"Miss Ryuu, let's continue!"
Lain was excited. It only took him an hour to kill Douma. He received 600 attribute points per hour, so that would be 14,400 attribute points in 24 hours.
At this terrifying pace, even if he were to raise all his attributes to SSS, he would quickly become a high level adventurer.
Lain's voice was like a devil's whisper, full of allure. "The more monsters you defeat, the faster you can resurrect Alise Lovell and the others..."
Ryuu looked at Lain with a hint of wariness and weariness in her eyes.
"Daga, kotowaru!"
Ryuu's refusal left Lain dumbfounded.
Ryuu said coldly, "I have my own things to do too. I can't keep hunting monsters for you forever. Don't forget, adventurers also have their own private lives."
Upon hearing this, Lain's heart sank.
Lain's mind raced. "You want to assassinate the adventurers of Evilus?"
"That's right."
Ryuu wasn't surprised that Lain knew her plans; this mysterious boy seemed to know everything, and his wisdom was comparable to that of a god.
"Understood."
Lain nodded. Ryuu was only helping him fight monsters on a whim. It would be best if she could revive Alise and the others, but revenge was still necessary.
After a moment of contemplation, Lain gritted his teeth and stomped his foot. To prevent his henchman from escaping, he had to deal with Evilus today!
Lain asked, "What are you planning to do next? Kill someone? I might be able to give you some advice; after all, we're in the same boat."
After hesitating for a few seconds, Ryuu said, "I plan to ask Lady Astrea to leave Orario, and then assassinate the adventurers of those Familias and anyone related to them."
Ryuu's face was cold and filled with rage. Her mad fire of revenge might even burn innocent people. She did not want to tarnish the reputation of her righteous Familia or let Lady Astrea see her like this.
"Exactly!"
Lain thought to himself that after the annihilation of her entire Familia, Ryuu would ask Astrea to leave Orario and become a beast of revenge. Because her assassination targets even included Guild employees, she was later blacklisted by the Guild, and a bounty of 80 million Valis was placed on her head.
"That's it. Don't stop me, or I'll kill you too!" Ryuu said coldly. Having only known him for less than two hours, she couldn't possibly have any feelings for Lain. Anyone who stood in the way of her revenge would die!
"When did I say I was going to stop you?"
That would be best!
Lain asked, "I just have a question. Orario is so big, and Evilus has so many people. How long would it take you to complete your revenge? Miss Alise Lovell is probably getting impatient in the afterlife."
Ryuu remained silent.
Lain remembered that it took Ryuu three years to wipe out the remnants of Evilus.
As for why they were called remnants, the main force was wiped out by Finn and his men from the Loki Familia in the past two years. Ryuu's three years of hard-earned assassinations were actually just killing some small fry.
If it were an adventurer at Level 5 or 6, Lain might not have said anything, since he couldn't fight. But these trash evilus familias were blocking his path to ranking up, so how could he tolerate it?
Lain said, "I'll help you. Efficiency is key. Let's take down Evilus quickly; it'll benefit both of us!"
Ryuu's lips parted slightly. "Why are you helping me?"
"Don't ask too much, girl."
Lain said that, but in fact, resurrecting Alise and the others was just an empty promise for now. He had no idea whether it could be done or not, while Ryuu had genuinely helped him hunt down Douma.
The equipment in the system was divided into tiers: low tier equipment corresponded to adventurers at Levels 1 and 2, and high tier equipment corresponded to adventurers at Levels 3 and 4. If you put it that way, it made sense.
Lain didn't like owing anyone anything.
Seeing that Lain was unwilling to reveal the reason, Ryuu didn't press him for details. Instead, she became slightly interested in Lain's words. "Kill the Rudra Familia as soon as possible? Do you know how many of them there are?!"
