INT. FRIENDS' HANGOUT – MORNING (COMEDIC SILENCE)
The place is unusually quiet.
Empty bottles.
Scattered chairs.
Kelvin sleeps on a couch.
Mouth slightly open.
Dan Kay pokes him with a bottle cap.
DAN KAY
Celebrity, wake up.
Kelvin groans.
Sits up.
Looks around.
KELVIN ADEYEMI
Did I embarrass myself yesterday?
Dan Kay laughs.
DAN KAY
Only to people with sense.
Kelvin smiles.
Then rubs his face.
EXT. STREET – MORNING
Kelvin walks home.
Sun already hot.
A WOMAN selling fruits waves.
FRUIT SELLER
Singer man!
Kelvin waves back.
She hands him a mango.
FRUIT SELLER (CONT'D)
Talent sweet, life hard.
Kelvin pauses.
Smiles sadly.
Keeps walking.
INT. KELVIN ADEYEMI'S ROOM – DAY
Kelvin opens his door.
The guitar leans against the wall.
He stares at it.
Then at unpaid bills on the table.
He sits.
Counts coins.
Stops.
Laughs once.
Dry.
KELVIN (V.O.)
"When laughter pays the bills, joy becomes employment."
INT. BANK HALL – DAY (TRAGICOMEDY)
Kelvin stands in line.
People ahead.
He checks his balance slip.
Looks again.
Squints.
Looks around.
Shrugs.
KELVIN ADEYEMI
(to himself)
Maybe the machine is shy.
A MAN behind him clears his throat.
Kelvin steps aside quickly.
Embarrassed.
EXT. BANK – DAY
Kelvin exits.
Phone rings.
He answers.
KELVIN ADEYEMI
Hello.
A pause.
His face drops.
KELVIN ADEYEMI (CONT'D)
I understand.
Yes… thank you.
He ends the call.
Stands still.
People rush past him.
Life continues.
He doesn't.
INT. MIRA OKAFOR'S ROOM – DAY
Mira prepares to leave.
She pauses.
Looks at her phone.
Types.
Deletes.
Types again.
Stops.
Sighs.
EXT. OPEN FIELD – EVENING
Kelvin sits on the ground.
No guitar.
No phone.
Just sky.
He lies back.
Clouds move.
He watches.
KELVIN (V.O.)
"Even the sky moves forward. Only pain feels permanent."
INT. FRIENDS' HANGOUT – NIGHT (COMEDY MASK)
Kelvin enters with exaggerated energy.
KELVIN ADEYEMI
Who dey alive?
Cheers.
Laughter.
Someone hands him a drink.
He raises it.
KELVIN ADEYEMI (CONT'D)
To heartbreak.
It keeps us creative.
Laughter.
Kelvin drinks.
Hard.
INT. FRIENDS' HANGOUT – LATER
Kelvin is tipsy.
Standing on a chair.
KELVIN ADEYEMI
Ladies love me till their network improves!
Loud laughter.
Mira watches.
Her smile fades.
EXT. FRIENDS' HANGOUT – NIGHT
Mira steps outside.
Kelvin follows.
Almost trips.
MIRA OKAFOR
You don't have to destroy yourself to entertain people.
Kelvin laughs.
KELVIN ADEYEMI
If I'm sober, I think too much.
She steps closer.
Firm.
MIRA OKAFOR
Thinking won't kill you.
Running from it will.
Kelvin's smile falters.
KELVIN ADEYEMI
You talk like you know how it feels.
She looks at him.
Eyes shining.
MIRA OKAFOR
I watch it every day.
Silence.
INT. KELVIN ADEYEMI'S ROOM – NIGHT
Kelvin stumbles in.
Falls onto the bed.
Laughs once.
Then stops.
The laughter turns into breathless silence.
He covers his face.
A tear escapes.
Then another.
INT. MIRA OKAFOR'S ROOM – NIGHT
Mira sits on the floor.
Back against the bed.
Crying quietly.
She presses her fist to her mouth.
MONTAGE – DAYS PASSING
– Kelvin performs on the street.
– People clap, drop coins, walk away.
– Girls take photos with him.
– Kelvin smiles for the camera.
– Smile fades as they leave.
– Mira watches from a distance.
– Kelvin laughs with friends.
– Kelvin alone at night.
KELVIN (V.O.)
"The crowd loves the performance, not the performer."
EXT. STREET CORNER – NIGHT
Kelvin sings softly.
A small crowd gathers.
Mira stands behind them.
Listening.
Kelvin closes his eyes.
🎵 SONG – "STAY OR GO" 🎵
If you stay, stay fully
If you go, don't pretend
I'm tired of good beginnings
That end before the end
The crowd claps.
Disperses.
Mira remains.
Kelvin opens his eyes.
Sees her.
Their eyes lock.
Something shifts.
FADE DOWN (STILL NOT THE END).
